How many times do we have to stumble and fall before we realize that following God s ways, and not our own, leads to happiness and salvation? Let us not resist the Lord, but answer his call. LITURGY OF THE WORD In the first reading, the reluctant prophet Jonah gets a quick response today from the people of Nineveh. Saint Paul speaks with urgency, telling the Corinthians that time is running out. COFFEE BREAK St. Mary s Altar Society invites you and your family to the Activity Center after the 8:00 a.m. Mass on Sun Jan. 21, for coffee, juice, fruit, donuts and fellowship Consecrated Life Day to be Celebrated at Incarnate Word Convent In 1997, Pope Saint John Paul II instituted an annual day of prayer for women and men in consecrated life. This year, we, the Catechists of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary, the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word, the Sisters of the Incarnate Word and Blessed Sacrament, the Vietnamese Dominican Sisters, and the Missionary Congregation of the Blessed Sacrament serving in the diocese of Victoria invite you to a special Mass celebrated by Bishop Brendan Cahill. This Celebration will be held on Sunday, February 4, 2018 at 9:00 am in the Incarnate Word Convent Chapel, 1101 NE Water Street. A reception will follow in the Sisters Dining Room where each congregation will display material about their community. All are invited.

4 THIRD SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME St. Mary s Church Festival Raffle Tickets - Don t wait. Please turn in your sold and/or purchased tickets now. Additional raffle tickets are available at the entrance to the church as well as in the church rectory during office hours. Count down to the St. Mary s Church Festival we are 3 weeks away from the festival are you ready? We welcome all parishioners and families as we prepare for our biggest money making project for our church. The next festival meeting will be January 22, 2018 at 7:00pm in the AV room. This is the last meeting before the festival. The committee is excited about the addition of the antique booth with the country store. Our church family has also invited Our Lady of Sorrows to join us. Our Lady of Sorrows will run the concession stand and have a 50/50 split with all those proceeds going back to Our Lady of Sorrows. Please invite all of your family to attend on Sunday Feb. 11 th 2018 and we will see you at the festival.
