3 The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ Prayer for the Protection of Religious Liberty O God our Creator; From your provident hand we have received our right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. You have called us as your people and given us the right and the duty to worship you, the only true God, and your Son, Jesus Christ. Through the power and working of your Holy Spirit, you call us to live out our faith in the midst of the world, bringing the light and the saving truth of the Gospel to every corner of society. We ask you to bless us in our vigilance for the gi of religious liberty. Give us the strength of mind and heart to readily defend our freedoms when they are threatened, give us courage in making our voices heard on behalf of the rights of your Church and the freedom of conscience of all people of faith. Grant, we pray, O Heavenly Father, A clear and united voice to all your sons and daughters gathered in your Church in this decisive hour in the history of our na on, so that, with every trial withstood and every danger overcome for the sake of our children, our grandchildren, and all who come a er us this great land will always be one na on, under God, indivisible, with liberty and jus ce for all. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen At the present time our religious liberties are being assaulted. The right of the church to act in civil society is being eroded away. The de inition of marriage is changed. Abortion and euthanasia are accepted practices. To counteract this wave of unprecedented attack of God s law, we are called on to pray for our nation. On Monday, June 23rd and 30th from 7:00pm to 8:30 pm, we will have a Holy Hour for our nation. There will be special prayers, Litany and intercessions. So many times we sit and wonder if anything can be done. Prayer is the only weapon we have and it is a strong deterrent to the workings of the evil one. Please come out and pray for our nation that we may be lead by God once again. (3:1324). It continues, in the blessed Eucharist is contained the whole spiritual good of the Church. That is why on this Sunday after Holy Trinity Sunday we celebrate Corpus Christi, the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ. The word Eucharist inds its roots in the Latin word ucharistia, which in turn came from the Greek word eucharistos, which meant, quite simply, gratitude or thanksgiving. How appropriate that we, who are called by Christ to be a stewardship people, celebrate at the focal point of every Mass an act of thanksgiving and gratitude namely the reception of Jesus incredible gift to us the Eucharist. The Lord proclaims in today s Gospel reading from John, I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats this bread will live forever. When we receive the Lord in His real presence at Mass, we should approach the Eucharist with respect, humility, commitment, and love. These words also apply to how we live our lives through stewardship. We are a Eucharistic people, grateful and giving. In receiving the Lord in all His fullness through the Eucharist, we in turn are called to share that goodness Today is the Feast of Corpus Christi (Sunday, June 22nd) The total offertory in every parish of the archdiocese is dedicated to the support of those studying for the priesthood. For , over a million dollars is needed from this collection to support our seminarians studying for the priesthood. To achieve this goal, Archbishop DiNardo requests that you double the amount of your regular church support for the weekend of June If each contributor will do this, the needed subsidy will be met by this collection. In gratitude for the incomparable gift of the Holy Eucharist which is inseparably joined to the priesthood, please do your part to help the archdiocese provide priests for the sake of your future by praying daily for vocations and supporting this collection. through love with all we meet. 5 The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ -FAITH FORMATION- ~ YOUTH MINISTRY NEWS ~ Middle School Youth Nights: Middle School nights in the summer are Tuesdays from 6:30pm-8pm in the Parish Hall. High School Youth Nights: High School nights are Fridays! from 7-9pm in the JP2 Room, next to the Baseball Field. All youth are welcome! AYC registration is here! The 2014 Archdiocesan Youth Conference will be held on July 25-27th, at the Hilton Americas Hotel in Downtown Houston. All youth in 8th grade through graduating seniors are invited to come! Registration costs $150, and we are now offering a monthly payment plan for the registration costs.
