3 Bishop Wayne Kirkpatrick s Visit to Orillia! Our Bishop Wayne Kirkpatrick will be visiting Guardian Angels Parish on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at the 5:00 pm Mass. Most Reverend Wayne Kirkpatrick will preside at the Holy Mass to lead us in thanksgiving to the Lord for 106 years of our beautiful Church. We are grateful to welcome our Bishop and all parishioners, friends and visitors. Bishop Wayne Kirkpatrick will also be our special guest speaker at the Second Annual Bishop s Dinner. Thank you to our fund raising committee members for all their great work and to all of you who supported this major fund raising event for our Church. Most Reverend Wayne Kirkpatrick Wayne Joseph Kirkpatrick was born on June 5, 1957 in St. Catharines, Ontario, the fourth of five children. He studied at the University of Waterloo, St. Jerome's College, earning a Bachelor of Arts (Philosophy) before entering St. Augustine's Seminary in He completed a Masters of Divinity and was ordained to the priesthood on September 1, He received a Licentiate (Masters) in Canon Law in June 1990 from St. Paul University, Ottawa. Msgr. Kirkpatrick served the Diocese of St. Catharines in diverse roles since his ordination, including 22 years in diocesan administration, concurrently serving in parish ministry as a pastor for 17 years. He served on the Diocesan Finance Council for 17 years and was elected as chair of the Council of Priests for three terms. He was Diocesan Administrator for the Diocese of St. Catharines from April to November He was named a Prelate of Honour by Pope John Paul II in June 1999, a papal honour that bestows the title of Monsignor' on priests recognized for their service to the church. In May 2012, Pope Benedict XVI appointed him as Auxiliary Bishop for the Archdiocese of Toronto. At the time of his appointment, he was serving as Moderator of the Curia, Chancellor and Judicial Vicar of the Diocese of St. Catharines, Rector of the Cathedral and President of the Canadian Canon Law

Bishop Kirkpatrick's episcopal ordination took place at the Cathedral of St. Catherine of Alexandria in St. Catharines, Ontario on July 25, As Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Toronto, Bishop Kirkpatrick will oversee care of the pastoral needs of the Northern Pastoral Region. He has also been appointed as Episcopal Vicar for Religious institutes of men and women in the Archdiocese and Episcopal Vicar for the Francophone community. 5 Catholic Women s League Upcoming Events Tuesday, September 26 Northern Region Fall General Meeting will take place at Holy Spirit Church in Barrie. Masss will be celebrated at 7:00 pm. Catholic Women s League Membership Drive and Newsletter available at the back of the Church following all Masses. Marriage Preparation Course A Marriage Preparation Course has been scheduled at St. Columbkille for Friday, April 13, Saturday, April 14 and concluding on Sunday, April following the 11:00 am Mass. 6 Life Chain Will you join with others across the country for the annual Life Chain on Sunday, October 1 from 2:00 pm-3:00 pm at Atherley Road, near Tudhope Park? Pray for an end of abortion and stand up for life. By your presence you are a witness to God s love for each person from conception to natural death. If you have been before, encourage someone to come with you. Bring a chair and an umbrella if needed.
