Daughter of St. Gianna to Speak in Atlanta Dr. Gianna Emanuela Molla, daughter of St. Gianna, will speak at three Atlanta-area parishes next month: St. Brigid, Holy Trinity and Holy Spirit. Dr. Molla was born on April 21, 1962 to St. Gianna Beretta Molla, an Italian wife, mother and pediatrician. St. Gianna died one week following the birth of her daughter April 28, 1962 after suffering through a high-risk pregnancy during which she was encouraged to terminate the pregnancy to save her own life. 3 THIRTIETH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME 3 #igivecatholic - November 28, 2017 To celebrate our unique Catholic heritage, #igivecatholic is the first-ever giving day created to rally the Catholic community on #GivingTuesday, November 28th a global day of giving. Donors make secure, tax-deductible donations to their parish, alma mater, and favorite ministries. Our parish will be collecting funds for facility upgrades including new carpet and technology improvements in the parish hall, and hospitality outreach. Donations will be accepted on igivecatholic.org during a 24-hour period, and gifts may be scheduled in advance beginning Friday, November 10th. Online Registration Available For Parish Directory Planning for our new parish directory is underway and our goal is to include everyone in the parish! In addition to the regular registration opportunities following Mass on specific weekends, you can now reserve your photography session online! Our online reservation site is located at you can also find a link to the online reservation page on our church website at stpeterslagrange.net. Some key points to remember when booking your appointment online: 1) You must enter the number of persons in your group first. A group is defined as each family that has a separate listing in the directory. If you have a multi-generational family and you also want a group photo of the entire family, you will need to list each group (separate listing) in subsequent time slots when registering. Please note that all members of a multi-generational family MUST arrive at the first time slot to accommodate enough time for each group photo session as well as the multigenerational photo session. 2) If your immediate family has more than 7 persons it will automatically allocate 2 slots. Remember each family group needs to have their own slot (the slot will correspond to a listing in the directory) Any family or friends that are not part of the parish that want a photo need a separate slot even though they will not be in the directory. 3) Each time slot denotes the arrival time only. Please allow up to one hour for each photo session. There are explicit directions on the website for registration. If you have any difficulties with the online reservation site, please contact Debby Rand at St. Charles Borromeo - November 4, 2017 Priesthood Sunday is celebrated this weekend throughout the Archdiocese of Atlanta as we stop to take time to honor and affirm the role of the priesthood in the life of the Church. Magnificat Prayer Breakfast All women are invited to the Magnificat Prayer Breakfast on Saturday, November 11, 2017, from 9:30 a.m.-12:00 noon at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 3773 Chamblee Tucker Road, Atlanta. The guest speaker will be Diane Bates, assistant coordinator of the worldwide Magnificat Ministry s central leadership team. Breakfast reservations are $15 and must be made in advance. For more information, call Debbie DuPont at Charles Borromeo lived during the time of the Protestant Reformation, and had a hand in the reform of the whole Church during the final years of the Council of Trent. Although he belonged to the Milanese nobility and was related to the powerful Medici family, Charles desired to devote himself to the Church. In 1559, when his uncle, Cardinal de Medici was elected Pope Pius IV, he made Charles cardinal-deacon and administrator of the Archdiocese of Milan. At the time Charles was still a layman and a young student. Because of his intellectual qualities Charles was entrusted with several important offices connected with the Vatican, and later appointed secretary of state with responsibility for the papal states. The untimely death of his elder brother brought Charles to a definite decision to be ordained a priest, despite his relatives insistence that he marry. Soon after being ordained a priest at age 25, Borromeo was consecrated bishop of Milan. Working behind the scenes, Saint Charles deserves the credit for keeping the Council of Trent in session when at several points it was on the verge of breaking up. Borromeo encouraged the pope to renew the Council in 1562, after it had been suspended for 10 years. Charles took the initiative in giving a good example. He allotted most of his income to charity, forbade himself all luxury, and imposed severe penances upon himself. He helped feed nearly 70,000 people during the height of the plague and he died at the age of 46. Online Giving is a safe and convenient way to donate to the church. Morning/Evening Prayer While Father Tim is traveling on his pilgrimage to the Holy Land we will be praying the Morning or Evening Prayer from the Liturgy of the Hours in place of our regular weekday Masses. The Liturgy of the Hours, also known as the Divine Office or the Work of God (Opus Dei), is the daily prayer of the Church, marking the hours of each day and sanctifying the day with prayer. Morning & Evening prayer will be led by prayerful lay people during Father Tim s absence. A rosary will follow each of these prayers. Directory Volunteers Needed Parishioner Debby Rand is coordinating our new Parish Directory, and she needs your help! She is in need of volunteers from St. Peter s as well as from St. Elizabeth Ann Seton for the following tasks: 1) Assist in putting together packets to hand out. 2) Help at the registration table after each Mass on October 21, October 28, November 4, and November 11. 3) Greet parishioners and check them in as they arrive to get their photos taken (many various dates) 4) Call parishioners that have not signed up yet, to ensure they get registered 5) We will also need assistance signing in families as they arrive for their photo session appointments on each of the photo session dates. If you can spare a few hours helping in this capacity, a sign-up form for volunteers is available in the parish office during the week (and will be at the registration table on the weekends). Our hosts will be Helen Bishop and Eileen Martin. Archdiocesan Seminarians As Pope John Paul II said, The responsibility for the seminary belongs to the entire Christian community. We are blessed in this archdiocese with over 60 men who are responding to a call for priestly service to the people of God in the Archdiocese of Atlanta. Though this generous gift of God is a blessing for this archdiocese, it does pose a challenge to us. These men need both our financial support and our prayers. Please provide a sound future for the seminarians here in the Archdiocese of Atlanta by giving generously to the Archdiocesan Seminarians Collection next weekend.
