3 PALM SUNDAY OF THE PASSION OF THE LORD 3 Dear Brothers and Sisters, Palm Sunday / Domingo de Ramos Blessings and greetings to you this most Holy of weeks! Today we celebrate Palm Sunday, or Passion Sunday. This week is full of symbolism as we enter into the paschal mystery of Jesus Christ. Today we reflect on the Passion Narratives of Jesus we are encouraged to engage the Lord as he traverses in our streets today through the gift of Faith and the Spirit. Sometimes we are the crowd, or a Pilate, having a compromising spirit. At times, we have to be a Veronica who has the courage to step away from the crowd and wipe the face of Jesus. Maybe we feel like Jesus too weak to carry a cross; maybe we are like Simon of Cyrene who is forced to carry the cross of Jesus. In any event, we can relate so well with many of the figures of the passion of Jesus. I pray that this Holiest of Weeks we may be renewed by the celebrations of the week. On Sunday evening we will celebrate a Seder Supper. The Chrism Mass of the Archdiocese is on Tuesday; I will be there to receive the new holy oils from the Archbishop. On Thursday, Friday and Saturday; we celebrate the Sacred Triduum, that is, the holy three days of the passion, death and Resurrection of Jesus. Please pray for our parish family for its renewal and for our Elect (catechumens and candidates) that will be joining our Catholic Faith. Please see the schedule in the bulletin for times. Today, we celebrate that Jesus entered into the City of Jerusalem; so too he enters into our cities and into our very hearts seeking to renew us. On this day, we welcome and herald him as Son of God, Son of David. Hosanna in the Highest, blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. May we be renewed by God s unconditional love. If you are traveling during this Easter time, be safe and know of our prayers for you. We hope you can come to all of our celebrations this week that we may grow in holiness and life. Blessings, Fr. Tim Gadziala Schedule Change First Week of Easter There will be no Daily Mass on the Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday following Easter Sunday (April 2nd, 3rd, and 4th). The office will also be closed on Monday, April 2nd. Daily Mass will resume on Friday, April 6th. Save The Date: First Friday The April 6th First Friday lunch program will be provided by parishioner Barbie Watts, Director of Promotions and Marketing for the Downtown LaGrange Development Authority. She will update us on future plans for the downtown area and upcoming events. Please bring a dish to share and join us for this interesting and informative program. Faithful Servant Nominations We are now accepting written nominations for our annual Faithful Servant Award that recognizes an outstanding parishioner for devotion, character, and generosity. The deadline for nominations is Wednesday, April 4th, The Faithful Servant will be announced at the Spring Festival on April 15th. Willis. The Celebration Mass, although non-liturgical, is a combination of mass texts, spirituals, and poetry, inspired by King s life and Civil Rights message. The concert is scheduled to take place Sunday, April 8th, 7:00 p.m. at LaGrange College, Callaway Auditorium. We would like to welcome our newest members Cara Bryant and her children Cameron and Joshua, who come to us from the Church of St. Peter in Sarasota Springs, New York. Commissariat of the Holy Land Pope Francis has asked our parish to support the Pontifical Palm Sunday collection, which helps Christians in the Holy Land. Your support helps the church minister in parishes, provide Catholic schools and offer religious education. The Palm Sunday collection also helps to preserve the sacred shrines. The wars, unrest and instability have been especially hard on Christians. In these times of crisis, this Collection provides humanitarian aid to refugees. When you contribute to the Pontifical Palm Sunday collection, you become an instrument of peace and join with Catholics around the world in solidarity with the Church in the Holy Land.
