2 Cemetery Angels Recently we had some repair work done on the stone wall entrance of St. Joseph s Cemetery. We also capped the two posts at the entrance. Two Angels were donated in memory of Kate DelSanto by her husband Michael. From now on the entrance to the Cemetery will be known as through The Angel Gate. Second Collection This weekend a second collection will be taken up for Catholic Missions Among Black and Indian People to support education and evangelization efforts for the Native American, Alaskan American and African American communities throughout the United States. 3 Veteran s Plaque Since the installation of the new plaque in honor of our Parish Veterans a number of people have approached me letting me know that names of their family members are missing. Prior to having the plaque made, I had a notice run in the Bulletin for a number of weeks requesting the names of Veterans from our Parish. I also checked with the VFW and the list we previously had on file. Before I send out the blank tags for engraving, we will make another request for names. If you wish to have a parishioner s name who served in the military and their name is not on the plaque, please call the Rectory with the information as soon as possible. Please note that any new additional names will not be in alphabetical order on the plaque. The Feast of Corpus Christi and the Forty Hours Devotion This devotion has a long tradition in our Church. It calls to mind the hours Our Divine Lord spent in the tomb before His Resurrection. It also reminds us that during this time, He descended into the region of the dead to call forth the souls of the faithful to share in His triumph over sin and death. In observance of this profound truth, we enter into prayer at the time of the Church s celebration of Corpus Christi. For as Our Lord Himself said: Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him on the last day. For a number of years now, our Parish has held the Forty Hours Devotion beginning on the Feast of Corpus Christi. We will have our Eucharistic Procession following the 12 noon Mass. There will be the traditional three Benedictions: the first, at the Crucifix in the Cemetery; the second, at the statue of the Holy Family in the new section of the Cemetery and the third, in the Church when we return in procession. At that moment the Forty Hours will begin. The Holy Eucharist will be exposed on our Altar in Church continuously until Tuesday morning at 7am. We invite all of our children who received their First Holy Communion to join the procession wearing their First Communion outfits. It is extremely important that Our Lord always have someone with Him in adoration. We invite all of our parishioners to sign up for an hour of adoration. The sign-up board is in the vestibule of the Church. We encourage families to come together for a time of adoration. Also, we especially encourage that more than one person be present in the Church during the night hours. This is a time of great sacrifice, grace and blessing for our parish and our families. Come and be with the Lord; He will not be outdone in generosity. Women s Guild The Women s Guild will meet on Tuesday, June 6th at 7:00pm in the Parish Hall. Religious Education Registration is now open for the school year. Visit our Parish website and click on Bulletins/ Information/Forms to find the Religious Education Registration form. 4 NOTICE TO ALL DONORS OF THE CHURCH OF THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION (BANGALL) 1998 BUILDING FUND Please be advised that a Petition for Relief under Not for Profit Corporation Law section 555 (c ) has been filed by the Church regarding the 1998 Immaculate Conception Building Fund (the IC Fund ). We are asking the Supreme Court of Dutchess County to expand the purposes and scope of the IC Fund. Since the new Church building was never built in Bangall and there is currently $200, in the IC Fund being held in a restricted bank account, the Church is petitioning the Court to allow the IC Fund to be used for various capital projects such as: (i) capital repairs, upkeep and maintenance of properties located at the former Bangall parish site; (ii) demolition costs for the Bangall church building and (iii) for paving a new entrance and exit road to St. Mary s Cemetery. If you made a donation to the IC Fund, you have a right to submit papers to the Supreme Court, Dutchess County on the return date, with your proof of funding at 10 Market Street, Poughkeepsie, New York on or before the 30th day of June, 2017, before the Honorable Maria G. Rosa. Copies of the Petition for Relief, Exhibits and the Order to Show Cause are available on the Roman Catholic Church of St. Joseph and Immaculate Conception s website. If you made a donation to the IC Fund and do not want the money to be used for the various capital projects listed above and would like your donation to be refunded, you must do the following within 14 days: (a) notify the Church s attorneys, Cullen and Dykman LLP, 44 Wall Street, New York, NY 10005, Attn: Suzanne Melnyk Tripp, Esq., by smelnyktripp@cullenanddykman.com or by telephone ( ) that you were a donor to the IC Fund and would like your donation to be refunded and (b) submit proof of your donation to the Church s attorneys, such as a cancelled check or a receipt. If you have submitted valid proof of your donation, the Church s attorneys will notify you of this and the money shall be refunded to you within 21 days of a Justice of the Supreme Court signing an Order lifting the restrictions on the IC Fund and allowing the above expanded purposes. Widowers Luncheon A luncheon to honor all the widowers of the Parish will be held on June 11th at 1:00pm, after the Noon Mass. All widowers are invited to attend and to bring a guest if they wish.
