2 The priest returns to the seat (the sedília ), removes the Cope, and dons the Chasuble and Maniple for the Mass, which are the colors of the day: for Masses of Our Lady: White. 4 INTROIT The Chanted Introit was begun by the Schola during the Prayers at the Foot of the Altar. The Celebrant recites it at the Epistle side (the right) after he finishes the Prayers at the Foot of the Altar, says Oremus, ascends to the altar and kisses it, honoring the Saints whose relics are in the Altar-stone. SERMON/HOMILY THE CREDO Ibelieve in one God, the Father almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and of all things, visible and invisible. And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God. Born of the Father, before all ages. God of God: Light of Light: true God of true God. Begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father, by whom all things were made. Who, for us men, and for our salvation, came down from heaven. Here kneel down. And became incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the Virgin Mary: and was made Man. Arise. He was crucified also for us, suffered under Pontius Pilate, and was buried. And the third day He rose again according to the Scriptures. COMMUNION OF THE FAITHFUL The reception of Holy Communion is a sign that the communicant accepts and believes all that the Roman Catholic Church holds and teaches. General norms for receiving Holy Communion in the Catholic Church Those who receive should: 1) be baptized Catholics in full communion and in good standing with the Church; 2) be in a state of Sanctifying Grace (i.e., not conscious of a mortal sin); 3) have fasted at least one hour before receiving the Sacrament. In the ancient Latin rite celebrated according to the liturgical books of 1962, the Communicant receives the Sacred Host on the tongue while, if you are able, kneeling. The Consecration Candle is removed from the Mensa. He continues with the Ablutions, during which he purifies the Paten, Ciborium, and Chalice. This action is a reminder of the Catholic Church s Jewish origins, specifically the ritual cleansing in and of the Temple.
