Abstinence is to give something up voluntarily. A day of abstinence in the Church is one during which we abstain from eating meat. 6.7 What is the duty of a citizen? The duty of a citizen is to contribute to the good of society by obeying all just laws, paying taxes, voting, and defending one s own country. 6.8 What is scandal? Scandal is the sin of leading others into sin by the example of our action. 23
