I go into the confessional and kneel 2. I make the Sign of the Cross and say: Bless me Father for I have sinned. 3. I say: This is my first confession or It has been one week, or one month since my last confession. 4. I confess my sins. 5. I listen to what the priest tells me. 6. I say the Act of Contrition loud enough for the priest to hear me. 7. After I receive absolution from the priest, I say: Thank You Father. 8. After leaving the confessional, I say the penance the priest has given me and thank God for forgiving my sins. 8

The Communion of Saints is all the faithful of Christ on earth, in purgatory or in Heaven, namely, the Church Militant, the Church Suffering, and the Church Triumphant What are the four marks of the Church? And what do they mean? The Assumption of Mary is the truth of Faith that Mary was taken to heaven, body and soul, at the end of her earthly life What is death? Death is the end of man s earthly life, at which time the soul and body are separated What happens after death? We face our particular judgment where it is made known where our soul will go: heaven, purgatory or hell. 21

The resurrection of the body means that our bodies will be reunited to our soul, by the power of God, in order to enter eternal life, either in reward or in punishment. 6.1 What is prayer? Prayer is the lifting of the mind and heart to God, in order to know him better, to adore him, to thank him, and to ask him for what we need. 6.2 What is the most perfect prayer? The Mass is the most perfect prayer because in it Jesus offers himself to the Father for us. We offer ourselves along with Jesus to the Father by the power of the Holy Spirit. 6.3 Who are the saints? The saints are those who, by practicing virtues to a heroic degree according to the teachings and example of Jesus Christ, have merited glory in heaven. 22
23 6.4 What is an oath? An oath is calling upon God as witness for what is declared or promised. A person who swears falsely offends God seriously, for God is holiness and truth itself. 6.5 What is a vow? A vow is a promise made to God. 6.6 What is abstinence? Abstinence is to give something up voluntarily. A day of abstinence in the Church is one during which we abstain from eating meat. 6.7 What is the duty of a citizen? The duty of a citizen is to contribute to the good of society by obeying all just laws, paying taxes, voting, and defending one s own country. 6.8 What is scandal? Scandal is the sin of leading others into sin by the example of our action. 23
24 6.9 What is martyrdom? Martyrdom is the supreme witness given to the truth of faith, bearing witness unto death What are the 8 Beautitudes? 1. Blessed are the poor in spirit, theirs is the Kingdom of God. 2. Blessed are they who mourn, they will be comforted. 3. Blessed are the meek, they will inherit the land. 4. Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness, they will be satisfied. 5. Blessed are the merciful, they will be shown mercy. 6. Blessed are the clean of heart, they will see God. 7. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me. Amen. 13. Act of Faith O my God, I firmly believe that You are in three Divine Persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. I believe that your Divine Son became man and died for our sins, and that He will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe these and all the truths which the Holy Catholic Church teaches, because You have revealed them, who can neither deceive nor be deceived. Amen. 14. Act of Hope O my God, relying in Your infinite goodness and promises, I hope to obtain pardon of my sins, the help of your grace and life everlasting through the merits of Jesus Christ, my Lord and Redeemer. An Act of Contrition O My God, I am heartily sorry for having offended Thee, and I detest all my sins, because of Thy just punishments, but most of all, because they offend Thee my God, Who art all good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve, with the help of Thy grace, to sin no more and to avoid the near occasions of sin. Amen 31
32 20. Prayer to St. Michael St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the Devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly hosts, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan, and all the evil spirits, who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen. 21. The Apostle s Creed I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of Heaven and earth; And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, Our Lord; Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell; the third day He arose again from the dead. He ascended into Heaven, and sits at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty, from thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen 32
