2 overall plan is to convert the front secretary's office into a guest living room, and the two offices on the gym parking lot side into a suite for a priest. This will allow a suite upstairs and one downstairs for priests assigned here, and still leave a guest room and bath. Catholic Daughters Meeting CDA Court #206 will meet Monday, November 9 th at 6:00 P.M. at the Family Center. The meeting will include a memorial service for the deceased members and finalization of plans for the November 14/15 bake sale and January fundraiser. Members are reminded to bring ornaments for the Christmas Tree Forest at the museum. In addition, members are asked to bring toiletries, school items, or socks, etc. to send to Tutwheiler Clinic in Mississippi. Refreshments will be served. Mass Honoring Veterans There will be a Mass honoring our veterans on Wednesday, November 11 th at 8:05 A.M. Parents, grandparents, veterans, students and parishioners are invited to honor our veterans with refreshments at the Family Center after the Mass. KC Meeting The Knights of Columbus will hold their regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, November 11 th at the K.C. building. Officers meet at 6:30 P.M. followed by the regular meeting at 7:30 P.M A Lesson Still To Be Learned... After dealing with issues of rotten wood, water damage, bee and honey filled walls, one would think the local reverend father would expect an older building to bring certain "extra" problems. With the opening of our beautiful Pastoral Center, work to adapt the downstairs to a living area has brought its own special surprises. It was discovered that the walls are quite filled with many water lines as in the early 50 s when the rectory was built it was outfitted with a boiler system with pipes going all over the place through both stories. Then there are gas lines throughout the first floor. The best of surprises has been the severely rusted and decayed water supply pipes. After replacing a rusted main supply to the upstairs bath it was soon learned by the resident who has lived here longer that the shower was no longer a slow, soothing spring trickle at full blast but a jettison firehouse water cannon when opened full blast that has been proven to not only remove dirt but layers of epidermis--after the replacement of one of those rust-filled supply pipes. And thankfully...those little screens on the washing machine hoses...as without them the clothes washer would have been a "rust bucket." When work began on the plumbing, so much rust accumulated that the washer couldn't get water. The Help Wanted! It's time to put out the Help Wanted sign...liturgical help, that is. Each of the past few years we have bid farewell to some truly dedicated Altar Servers who graduating high school are now off to college. Our Altar Server numbers have been down a bit and so we are in need of boys and girls, grades 4 and up, to jump in. This time--to try a different approach--those who have children interested please call the parish office or drop an to us (pastor@stjcatholicchurch.com). Once we get a group together we will schedule a training. Being an Altar Server is an excellent way to involve the children more intimately with the solemn mysteries of our Catholic faith. It is service and privilege--catholic parents, encourage your young ones to help! Necesitamos Ayuda! Es tiempo de pedir ayuda ayuda litúrgica. Cada año le decimos adiós a monaguillos (servidores de altar) verdaderamente dedicados que se gradúan de high school y se van a la universidad. El número de monaguillos en servicio se ha reducido un poco y por lo tanto necesitamos a niños y niñas del grado escolar cuarto y arriba para que nos ayuden. Esta vez lo haremos un poco diferente, aquellos que tengan niños (o niñas) interesados por favor llamen a la oficina de la parroquia o envíenos un correo electrónico (pastor@stjcatholichurch.com). Una vez que tengamos el grupo formado programaremos el entrenamiento. Ser monaguillo es una excelente manera de involucrar a los niños más cercanamente con los solemnes misterios de nuestra Fe Católica. Es un servicio y un privilegio; padres católicos, animen a sus jóvenes a que nos ayuden! Looking Forward...Seeing Larger The company that publishes our missalette and songbooks has ceased publishing the edition we have been using for the past 17 years. They have changed formats to only publish the large print edition--this means we have had to order new covers...and have new racks made to accommodate them. They will be switched out in time for the First Sunday of Advent--the beginning of the Church year. Even now, missalettes have continued to disappear and as this changeover is going to cost more...there is even more reason to remind everyone that these items are worship aides for use in the Church. Obviously our state of the art video surveillance system is not living up to its promise...or the enforcement of

3 violations has been remiss on the part of parochial authorities. Please leave the missalettes in the Church-- deputizing a few helpers may be necessary (even Sheriff Matt Dillon had Festus to help). If you would like a devotional or a personal Mass book to keep and use at home, check in with the office gift shop, and if you do not find what you are looking for, one can be ordered for you. Religious Goods The Pastoral Center has various types of religious goods available for sale in the lobby. There are religious cards, crucifixes, rosaries, Bibles, prayer books (English and Spanish), Advent wreaths, religious Christmas ornaments, statues, wedding lasso, cemetery candleholders, etc...just the beginning of the list. All are available during office hours. Mercancias Religiosas El Centro Pastoral tiene varios tipos de mercancías religiosas en venta en el área del lobby. Hay tarjetas religiosas, crucifijos, rosarios, Biblias, libros de oración (inglés y español), estatuas, lazo de boda, candeleros para cementerio, etc., esto es solo una pequeña muestra de lo que hay disponible. Diocese of Victoria Catholic Schools 5K and 1 Mile Run/Walk Living Our Faith Join all the schools in the Victoria Diocese for a morning of fun and faith. Saturday, November 14 th 9:00 A.M. Riverside Park, Victoria Entry Fees: Pre-Registration - $10 Registration after October 30 th - $15 All participants are asked to bring non-perishable food items as a part of the registration fee. These items will be dispersed right back into our communities to help those in need.
