No los dejaré huérfanos (Juan 14:15-21) o Jn 17:1-11a. PEOPLE OF HOPE Throughout this Easter season the readings have drawn us into the experience of the early church. We have tasted the excitement and zeal of the first Chris ans. Now, with them, we listen to the words of Saint Peter, who reminds us that when people no ce that we are people of hope, we should be ready to explain why. This challenges us. Do others even no ce that we are people of hope? In a world o en marked by cynicism and hopelessness, do we stand out as people who offer hope and reassurance to others? In today s Gospel Jesus promises that when he leaves the earth he will not leave us orphaned. Today he promises to send his Advocate, the Spirit of truth who will be with us always. Let us acknowledge the presence of the Holy Spirit and ask the Spirit to make us people of hope. PUEBLO DE ESPERANZA Durante este empo de Pascua las lecturas nos han llevado por la experiencia de la Iglesia en sus primeros días. Hemos saboreado el entusiasmo y el celo de los primeros cris anos. Ahora, con ellos, escuchamos las palabras de san Pedro, que nos recuerda que cuando la gente note que somos pueblo de esperanza, debemos estar preparados para explicar por qué, lo cual nos presenta un reto. Será que otros sí notan que somos pueblo de esperanza? En un mundo marcado por el cinismo y la desesperanza, nos destacamos por ser personas que ofrecen esperanza y confianza a los otros? En el Evangelio de hoy Jesús promete que cuando deje esta erra no nos dejará huérfanos. Hoy promete enviar al Consolador, el Espíritu de la verdad que siempre permanecerá con nosotros. PEUPLE D ESPOIR Tout au long de ce e saison Pascale les lectures nous ont fait vivre l expérience de l Eglise primi ve. Nous avons gou é l enthousiasme et le zèle des premiers chré ens. Maintenant, avec eux, nous écoutons les paroles de Saint Pierre, qui nous rappelle que lorsque les gens remarquent que nous sommes un peuple d espoir, nous devrions être prêt à expliquer pourquoi. Ceci nous met au défi. Est-ce que d autres remarquent même que nous sommes un peuple d espoir? Dans un monde souvent marqué par le cynisme et le désespoir, Nous dis nguons nous comme un peuple qui offre l espoir et la réassurance aux autres? Dans l Evangile d aujourd hui Jésus promet que quand il qui era la terre il ne nous laissera pas orphelins. Aujourd hui il promet d envoyer son Avocat, l Esprit de vérité qui sera toujours avec nous. Unforeseen problem arises and consequently, we may respond nega vely. Why me? I did everything right! Here s the thing God has a different and be er plan in store for you, trust Him.
