1 Welcome THE THIRD SUNDAY OF EASTER Sunday 15 April 2018 LECTIO DIVINA takes place today at 8.45am in the Library. An informal opportunity to reflect on scripture together in a contemplative way. SUNDAY SCHOOL takes a break and will return on Sunday 22 April. There is a DIY crèche in the Exhibition Room (next to the Library) for under 3s. HYMN BOOKS For services in the Nave, hymn books and Books of Common Prayer can be found behind the kneeler on the seat in front of you. COFFEE AND FELLOWSHIP Coffee and tea and other refreshments available at the back of Seasons after the Eucharist. No need to queue. GIVING Regular worshippers are asked to join the Planned Giving Scheme. For more information please ask a Steward. Visitors and UK taxpayers are asked to use the Gift Aid envelope for their offering towards the work and worship of the Cathedral. All are welcome and details will posted in due course. His final service at the Cathedral will be the Cathedral Eucharist on Sunday 15 July, for which he will preach and preside. There will be refreshments and presentation directly after the service. All are very welcome as we prepare to send Andrew as a blessing to Croydon. For more information please contact the Dean. Cathedral Community Roll Revision The Community Roll is revised every three years and at that time it is necessary for all who wish to be entered onto the new Roll to complete a Community Roll Form. Names may be entered of those over 16 years of age who are regular worshippers at the Cathedral, are employed staff or regular volunteers or those who live in the Cathedral precinct. In order to ensure compliance with the new Data Protection Regulations please complete all sections of the form this will enable us to store your contact details and to contact you electronically or by post. Forms available from the Guides Desk at the west end of the Cathedral or from the Steward at 8.00am services. The new Roll will be published on 13 May. Installation of an Honorary Lay Canon Sunday 6 May, 6.00 pm Many were delighted to hear back in January that Shirley-Margaret Lloyd was invited to be an Honorary Lay Canon at Guildford Cathedral. Her Installation will happen at Evensong on May 6 all are welcome to attend.

9 SAVE THE DATE Sunday 13 May Annual Congregational Meeting This will take place after the Cathedral Eucharist. During the meeting elections will take place to the Community Committee, Guildford Deanery Synod, Chapter and Cathedral Council. Open House 4pm to 6pm Showcasing the achievements of The People s Cathedral project Music, art, talks, displays, children s activities, tours. All welcome. Songs of Celebration 6pm A service of music and readings in a Songs of Praise style. Come and join in singing in celebration and thanksgiving. Further information is on the Cathedral website. Bereavement Service Tuesday 17 April 7.30 pm St Saviour s Church, Guildford, are holding a service for people who have suffered bereavement, and would find a time of quiet reflection helpful to remember and give thanks for those loved ones they have lost. All are welcome to join them for this special service. The service will include some readings, music, and a short reflection. It should last about 45 minutes. There will be pastoral helpers available at the end of the service to offer a listening ear, or prayer for those who would find this of comfort. Coffee, tea, and light refreshments will also be available before, and after the service. Further details from office@st-saviours.org.uk or Prayer for Healing with anointing Next Sunday 22 April Prayer, laying on of hands and anointing is offered during the Cathedral Eucharist next Sunday 22 April. Please go to the Lady Chapel immediately after receiving Communion. You may want prayer for healing for yourself or another person or you may have some other concern for which you would appreciate prayer. Anyone with any request is welcome. Art Exhibition Ashley Howard Ceramics until 17 May Guildford Cathedral is hosting an exhibition by the renowned ceramic artist, based at the University of the Creative Arts in Farnham, Ashley Howard entitled Mediations (a project funded by an Arts Council Grant). Rather than competing with the scale of the cathedral, Howard has created a series of sealed urns and

10 one vessels, decorated with flashes of colour. He invites us to meditate on our hopes and memories as we pause and pay attention to the beauty of small things. In his own words, theses stations of Meditations is about exploring space within space and the experience of specific spaces - and the resulting spiritual contemplation- something that is both intimate and immense. Our experienced and friendly Guides provide regular scheduled tours and tickets for these can be obtained from the Cathedral Shop on the day or booked on-line through the website. There are also self-guided tours which focus on particular aspects of our wonderful building including a selfguided pilgrimage. For children there are new trails, including Hidden Animals and Explorer Bags to help them find them. Our Tower Tours usually take place on Saturdays at 2pm and 3.15pm, but please do check the website for any changes. Climb the 249 steps and be rewarded with the best view in Surrey.
