Sacrament of Baptism Parents/legal guardians are to contact the office early to arrange sacramental instruction. Upon completion of the preparation program and the requisite paperwork, a date for the celebration of the sacrament will be scheduled. Anointing of the Sick As an aid to comfort and strengthen the sick, the sacrament is administered to those advanced in years, those preparing for surgery and those in danger of death. Nineveh will be destroyed if the people do not repent with forty days. Saint Paul tells the Christian Community in Corinth that time is running out. Jesus proclaims, This is the time of fulfillment. The kingdom of God is at hand. Deadlines can inspire us action. As we listen to the readings today, imagine how the folks addressed by Jonah, Paul, and Jesus responded to this urgency. 3 PARISH NEWS The Ecumenical Community Meal, which began in 2012, served 3060 guests in Seven teams of volunteers served 1149 hours. Five Wednesday dates were canceled due to weather or conflicts. The following purveyors were responsible for donating all the hot meals: Barley Creek in Tannersville, Buck Hill Fairway Grille in Buck Hill Falls, Camp Canadensis in Canadensis, Capri Pizza and Submarine in Mountainhome, Carrazzara's Restaurant in Cresco, Cook's Corner Family Restaurant in Henryville, First Place Cafe in Canadensis, Frogtown Chophouse in Swiftwater, Frogtown Inn and 6 Acres Restaurant in Canadensis, Kasa's Pizza in Paradise, Lewis' Supermarket (salad only), Mountainhome Diner, Neville's Bloomin Onion Italian Restaurant in Mountainhome, Paradise Stream Resort in Paradise, PourHouse Neighborhood Bar and Grille in Mountainhome, Potts Pocono Pizza in Canadensis, Skytop Lodge in Skytop along with businesses that had conferences there and did a Team Building Exercise and donated full meals (Unilever, Sanofi and Max Point), Spruce Lake Retreat in Canadensis, The Forks at Buck Hill in Mountainhome, Tom's Country Kitchen in Mountainhome, and Velma's Cafe in Cresco. The following businesses provided delicious desserts throughput 2017: Basso's Italian Restaurant in Cresco, The Daily Bread Bakeshop in Mountainhome, Dutch Hill Preserves in Canadensis, Girl Scout Troop in Cresco, Karl H. Forssell Plumbing Inc. in Canadensis, Monsignor McHugh School in Cresco, Paradise Home Furnishings in Paradise and Stonewall Garden Center in Canadensis. Our numbers are growing as we enter our 7th year serving our community. Volunteers are always needed. Please call Nancy Santi if you have an interest in volunteering. We serve every Wednesday at the Mountainhome United Methodist Church from Noon to 1pm. Please join us. New Online Giving Most Holy Trinity Parish has a new online giving option. OSV Online Giving makes it easy for us to fulfill our gifts to the parish even when we are unable to attend Mass. We do not need to bring cash or checks to church anymore. It is simple to do, and there are 2 simple ways to do it. The first way is by visiting the parish website ( Click on the online giving button that is found on the home page. The second way for accessing online giving is from our phones. Simply download the app for free from the Apple or Google stores. The name of the app is Online Giving by Our Sunday Visitor. From there it s the same login process as the website. Volunteers Needed As part of the Worship goal of our Parish Pastoral Plan, we offer one decade of the Rosary for the intention of Respect for Human Life. This will begin the weekend of December 2/ after all Masses. We re seeking volunteers who would be interested in leading the decade of the Rosary. Please prayerfully consider participating in the ministry. Sign-up sheets will be available on the table outside of the worship area or by contacting the parish office at or office@mht-poconos.org. Bambera, D.D., J.C.L., Bishop of Scranton, and the Office for Parish Life wish to invite couples celebrating their 25th or 50th wedding anniversary in 2018 to a diocesan Wedding Anniversary Mass on Sunday, June 10. The event includes a 2:30 PM mass at St. Peter s Cathedral followed by a reception. Requests for an invitation, with a mailing address, should be made through your pastor before March 12, 2018 Msgr. McHugh School will be hosting an open house on Sunday, January 28, 2018 from 2-4 pm. Please consider joining us and please spread the word.

6 COMMUNITY OUTREACH English as a Second Language ESL classes will resume in the Spring of Thank you for your wonderful attendance and participation in our program. The purveyor for our Ecumenical Community Meal on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 was Neville's Bloomin Onion Italian Restaurant in Mountainhome. Their menu consisted of salad, turkey pot pie with noodles. Basso's Italian Restaurant provided a delicious chocolate cake with marshmallow icing enjoyed by our 75 guests. Paradise Home Furnishings from Paradise provided an assorted tray of baked breads and a delicious wassail. Everyone enjoyed our Christmas Celebration! Many thanks to all our valued purveyors.
