2 Stewardship Corner ~ The first reading this week highlights the beautiful gift of free will. Isaiah cries out asking God why He lets us wander and harden our hearts so as not to feel fear. Isaiah asks God to return and to bring the Heavens down to earth. The second reading from one of Paul s letters acknowledges that we as humans, are not lacking in any spiritual gift. This line includes that gift of free will. It includes the gift of intellect. It includes the gift of self-determination. What does all of this knowledge mean in regards to stewardship, and how can we live it out today as lay persons on a journey to be with God eternally? What does God want us to do? God wants us to do right by others through actions of love, always. This is how the kingdom of Heaven becomes present here on earth. We have total control over whether or not we do good or bad based upon the intellect God gave us to inform those decisions. The ability to act on our own is this free will. God truly always desires the good, which is why He gives us that choice. He would never desire to take this freedom from us. He wants us to choose Him. Here is the selfdetermination part: The choices we live out create our future. By design, we can do good for God and love, or we can choose to do bad. These choices lead us to our eventual place of rest. We determine by our actions here on earth and through an informed free will where we rest after death. How will you use your smarts to act in loving ways and live for God, bringing His kingdom here to others? 6 Sacred Heart s 100 Year Centennial Plans are underway to celebrate Sacred Heart s 100 Year Centennial. Consider lending your time and talents to the Centennial Committee as plans are in the making to kick off a year long celebration starting on Saturday evening, June 6 th, 2015, and continuing thru out the year until the closing in June Sacred Heart s official anniversary is June 15, Consider being part of the heart, as our committee seeks volunteers that are willing to lend their time and talent and treasures. We need a wide spectrum of expertise to make this a celebration to remember. Our next meeting will be Tuesday, December 9th at 7 pm. Sacred Heart s Collectable Christmas Ornament Sacred Heart s Centennial Committee will be selling a collectable 2014 Christmas ornament that highlights the original Sacred Heart Church on Broad Street in Oxford. The ornament depicts the Sacred Heart of old. There is a limited number of the keepsake ornaments offered. The cost of the glass Christmas ball is $12 each and will be available after Mass by a Centennial Committee member. We will also be taking pre-orders on a tapestry that will depict the old Sacred Heart Church, the current Sacred Heart Church and the school.
