2 Stewardship Corner ~ There is something humiliating in admitting one s weaknesses. Humility is an important trait in living a life of stewardship. Being able to recognize and admit our shortcomings is essential for us to have the strength Paul demonstrates in today s reading, which contains an important message for each of us. The reason St. Paul finds strength in his limitations is because he is aware that the Lord will provide the power needed in the midst of those deficiencies. Paul s life is God-centered. Living life that way is exactly the way one can best follow stewardship as a way of life. Paul prefaces his statement about being weak and strong by writing the message he has been given by the Lord, who said to him: My grace is sufficient for you, for power is made perfect in weakness. May we pray for the strength of God s presence, and may we be willing to seek humility to truly find our strengths. The Program, which is a partnership between parents and parish, offers classes for parents and children two or three times per month on Sunday mornings following the 9a.m. Mass or Tuesday evenings from 6-7pm. Our Program is a combination of Mass, lessons at home, and formal classroom catechesis; it follows the guidelines from the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and uses age-appropriate Catholic materials. If your family will be enrolled in PREP for the first time this year, please contact the Faith Formation Office at x4 or shff0105@gmail.com to begin the registration process. PLEASE NOTE: If you have older children who have not had formal faith formation, please contact us it is never too late to lead your family into a closer relationship with Our Lord. We look forward to sharing your family s journey of faith. Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) Do you know someone who might be interested in becoming Catholic? Are you an adult who was baptized Catholic as an infant but not raised in the Catholic faith? Are you a Catholic adult who was never confirmed? The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is the process through which adults are gradually introduced to the Roman Catholic faith and way of life. RCIA also meets the needs of Catholic adults who want to complete their Sacraments of Initiation. Information sessions are scheduled for July 14 th and August 11 th at 7pm in the Parish Meeting Room. We will offer a brief explanation of the RCIA and provide time for questions about the process. Please feel free to bring a friend or family member with you. ALSO, please come if you are interested in being a sponsor or becoming a member of the RCIA team. If you would like more information before the July 14 th meeting, please call X4 OR SHFF0105@gmail.com. God s blessings on your journey! The Church has institutional forms because this communion must be visible and tangible, and active in the world. The Church s earthen vessels are necessary for proclaiming a spiritual reality: the Church is the Bride of Christ, a she, not an it. In the words of Saint John XXIII, the Church is our mother and teacher, our comforter and guide, our family of faith. All the baptized are the Church s sons and daughters, giving Christians our most fundamental and authentic identity. As members of the Church, we are members of the one body that is not defined by any human qualification, such as age, nationality, or intelligence, or by any human achievement, such as efficiency, organization, or moral virtue. Even when her people and leaders sin, we still need the Church s wisdom, sacraments, support, and proclamation of the truth. Just as our own sinfulness never erases our creation in God s image, when Catholics sin, that does not erase the Church s holiness. The Church s essence depends on Jesus, a foundation which holds us accountable, but which is also deeper and more secure than any human achievement or failure. God never abandons us. Despite her many failures, the Church cannot shirk the responsibility to preach and live the Gospel. Love is our mission, and the Church is the family that teaches and embodies this love. - Christopher C. Roberts, catechism editor We are looking for a capable person to fill the position at the desk in the Narthex. Your job will be to answer parishioner questions, take registrations, and sell Mass cards at the Masses on your assigned weekends. If you are at least 16 years of age and interested in learning more about the position, please call Kaitlyn in the parish office at ext. 2. Eucharistic Adoration Speak Lord for your servant is listening. (1 Samuel 3:10) Spend some personal, quiet, one-on-one time with Our Lord Jesus Christ. Abandon yourself to Jesus in this "Sacrament of Love" and He will refresh you! He is always there waiting for you and He speaks to you in the silence. Eucharistic Adoration is open to all and is held every Tuesday from 8 am to 7 pm and concludes with a 7 pm mass. We are in need of adorers for 8 am, 9am and 5 pm. If you are interested in becoming an adorer or, would like to have more information about Eucharistic Adoration at Sacred Heart Church, contact Joann Di Liberto at

5 S a c r e d H e a r t S c h o o l Sacred Heart School News Are you considering Sacred Heart School for your family? Children are active learners. Sacred Heart s Pre k program presents students with opportunities to construct knowledge from authentic experiences. Our curriculum is closely matched to each child s emerging competencies, needs and interests. Our supportive environment allows for guided practice of newly acquired skills while fostering independent living. We offer FREE extended care from 3-6PM for students enrolled in the pre k 4 full day program. Pre-kindergarten Curriculum Religion Your child will learn about all of God s creations, big or small. We learn God s will and our individual missions through prayer and Biblical stories. Students enjoy a variety of activities that integrate Scripture and the Liturgical Calendar. Reading & Writing Students will not only learn letter recognition and letter sounds, but they will also begin to learn letter blends. This is a vital component to speech/language aptitude as well as reading with comprehension. It is important for young learners to recognize that letters make sounds, and furthermore, letter with sounds make words. Math Through the use of manipulatives, our Pre-K students have fun employing hands on number recognition, patterns, shapes, and written numbers. Such skills allow learners to develop, cognitively, the value of numbers and the ability to group objects using verbal mathematical language. Science and Social Studies Our early learners will discover the world around them through our Science and Social Studies instruction. he teachers enhance exploration and discovery through the use of Scholastics News Magazine and hands on science kits. There are various field trips throughout the year which parents are encouraged to attend. Gross and Fine Motor Skills The development of small and large muscle movements is key for early learners to develop everyday skills. With our use of centered groups and scientific tools, your child will participate in a variety of activities to help them development muscle strength and memory. To learn more, please contact the development office at developmentshs@gmail.com or
