CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS The RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) is the Catholic Church s process whereby one could inquire about the Catholic faith and journey towards full reception into the Catholic Church on Easter Vigil. At Holy Spirit Parish, RCIA meets weekly from mid-september through April. There is no fee and all materials needed are provided. New participants are always welcome. THIRD SUNDAY OF LENT March 24, 2019 Exodus 3:1-8a, God Answers We all want to have our prayers answered. We think it would make life easier. But sometimes God answers them in a way that makes life more challenging. Young Moses was minding his own business, tending the flock of his father-in-law, when God decided it was time to answer some prayers. For years the chosen people had been held in Egypt in conditions of slavery. They longed to return to their own land, the land that God had given them. They prayed for release. God answered their prayers by appearing to Moses in a bush that was flaming but not consumed. God asked Moses to lead the people out of slavery into freedom. This was probably not the answer Moses had in mind. Moses would have been content to let someone else lead the people to freedom. He wanted an end to slavery as much as anyone else. But he never envisioned that he would lead the exodus. God was answering his prayers, but in a way that caused anxiety for Moses. When we want something done, God hears from us. When God wants something done, we hear from God. It may come as a surprise, but God may have us in mind to answer someone else s prayer. STATIONS OF THE CROSS The Stations of the Cross is a Lenten devotion that offers witness to Jesus' Passion and death. We pray the Stations of the Cross together at Holy Spirit parish throughout Lent on Friday evenings at 7:00 pm. WE PLEDGE 5%... Integrated Community Ministry on Avenue V serves nutritious lunches each week to those in need. ICM works to build confidence and improve job skills by hiring people from the community to work alongside volunteers. Holy Spirit Parish, in covenant with McClure United Church, supports this initiative, making community connections and challenging stereotypes about those who live in poverty. BUNNY MONEY The diocesan Restorative Ministry Office will be providing chocolate bunnies to the prisoners at the Saskatchewan Correctional Centre on Easter Sunday. If you wish to participate in this ministry, you are invited to place your toonie or other gift in the basket available on the hospitality desk in the Place of Welcome, or to contribute in a specially marked envelope in the Sunday offertory collection. Once again this year Restorative Ministry will organize and lead the Triduum liturgies at the prison. Your caring is greatly appreciated. LENTEN FAITH STUDY with Fr. The Sacraments of the Catholic Church and Scripture The Sacraments are defined by the Catechism of the Church as... signs of grace, instituted by Christ and entrusted to the Church. During Lent we will journey through scripture and examine the words and actions of Christ and how the Sacraments were introduced to us.
