Spanish Baptisms will be officiated on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month at 1:30 PM in the Church. Contact the Parish Office to schedule. Attendance at Baptism class is mandatory. The Baptism must be scheduled before you attend Baptism class. Marriage: Weddings celebrated Saturdays and Friday evenings, but not Sundays. You must contact a priest 9 months before the planned date, and reservation of a wedding time is suggested even earlier. Confirmation, First Eucharist, First Penance: Though immediate preparation is given before receiving these sacraments, children are expected to receive a Catholic upbringing in their families. This includes formal religious education classes and regular Sunday worship in the years prior to and following the reception of these Sacraments. Devotions Marian Novena: Saturdays following 8:30 AM Mass in the Chapel. Eucharistic Adoration: First Friday of the month from 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM, Benediction in English in the Chapel. Second Friday of the month from 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM, Benediction in Spanish in the Chapel. In the Hospital? If you or someone you know is sick in the hospital or nursing home for an extended stay, please contact the parish office. We will do our best to have someone make a pastoral visit and bring communion. A Sponsor for Baptism or Confirmation The opportunity to walk with another in Faith, whether a child or an adult is an awesome privilege. It is cause for serious consideration on the part of those who ask another to witness with their lives to what it means to be a Catholic, and for those who accept this responsibility. It is important to think carefully about your selection and decision. The person to be considered a Sponsor must be at least 14 years of age and have themselves completed the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Eucharist, Confirmation), and are leading a life in harmony with the Faith and Tradition they are called to witness. A Godparent/Sponsor cannot be the mother or father of the one to be baptized. If married, their marriage must be recognized as valid by the Catholic Church. They must be attending Mass regularly, that is, every Sunday and Holy Day of Obligation. They will need to obtain a Certificate of Eligibility signed by their pastor. Being properly registered at one s parish is an important first step. Consider carefully your invitation and response. There is more involved to this than simply standing at the Baptismal Font. It is a lifelong commitment. If you have questions, speak with one of the parish priests who can guide you correctly. Call the Parish Office EARLY, even before your child s birth to obtain information that will help you in selecting suitable godparents

3 Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults If you or someone you know would like to hear more about Jesus and His church, we invite you to join us at an Inquiry Session. Bound Brook Soup Kitchen The South Bound Brook Reformed Church serves between 40 and 100 people once a month at the soup kitchen located behind BBRC. People can cook, serve or both and there is no commitment to come every month. Any level of participation is welcome. People should arrive with hot food by 5:00. 4 Catholic Campaign for Human Development Please be generous in this week s second collection for the Catholic Campaign for Human Development. In the United States, one in six people live in poverty. With this collection you support programs that address the causes of poverty and provide a sustainable future for those who are struggling across the country. In addition, 25 percent of funds collected remains in our diocese to fund local anti-poverty projects. Please work on the margins. Disaster Relief Announcement from the Diocese of Metuchen In the wake of the recent hurricanes that devastated Puerto Rico, the Caribbean, Florida, Louisiana and Texas, and the deadly earthquakes in Mexico, Bishop Checchio has asked that the diocesan-wide Disaster Relief Collection be extended through Thanksgiving Day, November 23. You may donate online at or write a check made payable to Diocese of Metuchen with Disaster Relief in the memo line and mail it to: Disaster Relief Donation, Diocese of Metuchen, P.O. Box 191, Metuchen, NJ Please give generously, as your means allow. All monies collected will be used to assist victims of these recent natural disasters, working with local Catholic relief and recovery agencies in the affected regions. The tree will be in the Narthex of the Church beginning November 25/26. Tree tags contain a gift suggestion (please, new items only; no toy guns or items which require batteries). All gifts should be returned back to the Jesse Tree during the weekend of December 9 and 10 with the Jesse Tree tag taped to the box so they can be distributed to needy families. Please do not wrap the gift, since it will have to be reopened for distribution. Monetary donations are also welcome to purchase shoes and winter coats. Deben ser colocados delante del altar, y habrá una bendición especial de los alimentos durante la Misa. Unámonos para dar gracias a Dios Todopoderoso por todas las bendiciones que hemos recibido. Venga a recibir un pan bendecido para compartir en su mesa de Acción de Gracias. Novena de Rosarios a La Virgen de Guadalupe El domingo 3 de diciembre se inicia la novena de la Virgen Santa María Madre de Dios y Madre nuestra, bajo la advocación de Guadalupe. La novena se llevará a cabo en las casas de las personas que lo deseen, habrá una lista a la entrada de la Iglesia. La celebración a la Virgen de Guadalupe será El lunes 11 de diciembre. Esta celebración se iniciará con la Misa a las 9:00 AM en la Iglesia. En seguida de la misa, tendremos: la representación de las apariciones de la Virgen de Guadalupe a San Juan Diego por el grupo juvenil Jóvenes Unidos en Cristo, habrá también cánticos, Rosario y a las 12:30 pm las Mañanitas por el Mariachi. Tendremos convivio en el momento apropiado. Nuestra Madre nos espera. No estoy Yo aquí que soy tu Madre? Campaña Católica para el Desarrollo Humano Por favor, sean generosos en la segunda colecta de esta semana para la Campaña Católica para el Desarrollo Humano. En los Estados Unidos, uno de cada seis personas vive en situación de pobreza. Con esta colecta ustedes dan apoyo a programas que tratan con las causas de pobreza y brindan un futuro sostenible a aquellos que están luchando en todo el país. Además, el 25 por ciento de los fondos recaudados permanecerán en nuestra diócesis para financiar proyectos antipobreza en nuestra área. Por favor, unámonos en oración, piensen en cómo dar su apoyo a esta colecta y trabajar en la periferia.
