Let us pray today that the promise of the church on the day of its birth may continue to be realized through God s grace in us as we attend to the movement of the Holy Spirit in our lives. 3 THE SOLEMNITY OF PENTECOST SUNDAY Safety & Security - As always, parishioners are welcomed and encouraged to stop by Saint Joseph Church during the weekday to spend some quiet time with our Lord in prayer and reflection. To ensure the safety of all we will begin to keep the Church doors locked during the weekday - when in the past the doors were unlocked until 3:00 PM. The Parish Rectory Staff will be more than happy to unlock the doors for a visitor, or Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion bringing Communion to the homebond, Monday through Friday 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM. We ask that you simply stop by the Parish Rectory Office or call ( ) to have a staff member open the Church for your visit. It is our hope that this will not be a inconvenience, rather a measure to ensure a safe and secure environment for all. Any questions, please contact the Parish Rectory Office. Father Robert B. Vargo The Bishop McMahon Assembly 4 th -degree Knights of Columbus will be holding their Annual Memorial Day Mass on Monday, May 30 th, at 10 AM, rain or shine, at the mausoleum located in Mount Saint Benedict Cemetery on Blue Hills Avenue, in Bloomfield. The cemetery is located at the corner of Cottage Grove Road and Blue Hills Avenue. The public is invited and there will be a distribution of Holy Communion. The Mass is in honor all the men and women who have given their lives for our country and also for our own deceased family members. Saint Gabriel School Summer Camp 2016 Summer camp at Saint Gabriel School is a fun time for children in grades kindergarten through eight. All summer camp sessions are supervised by trained teaching staff from Saint Gabriel School. There are four different weeks to choose from! Each weekly themed camp session will include craft projects, daily snack making, games, water play and weekly field trips to area State Parks, bowling and/or movies and local in-town venues. Summer Camp is running the following weeks: July 11 July 15, July 18 July 22, July 25 July 29, and August 1 August 5 The hours for summer camp are 9 AM 4 PM. The cost is $ per week for Grates K 8! We offer before and after care: Before care runs from 8 AM 9 AM, and after care runs 4 PM 5 PM; both at a $5.00 per day charge. All parishioners will have the opportunity to make a pledge to the 2016 Archbishop s Annual Appeal during Mass. Discussion on Teen and Child Trafficking Grace Episcopal Church is hosting a Soup Supper and Discussion/Workshop on the Awareness & Education of Teen and Child Trafficking in Windsor (CT and Globally) on Wednesday evening June 1 st from 6:00 to 7:30 PM. Discussion will be led by Dr. Mary Decker, Ph.D. (Episcopal Diocese Trafficking Spokesperson), Rev. Denise Adessa (Grace Episcopal Church) and Windsor Police Department. Social Action Corner Monthly Food Collection The monthly food collection will be next weekend. The Food Bank requests canned fruit, apple sauce, jelly, cookies and crackers, and juice for the May collection. Would you like to win a $500 Gift Card to Geisslers? Social Action is participating in the WHOW raffle to benefit the Windsor Food & Fuel Bank and we need your help to reach our goal! Quarterly Collection of Sample-Size Toiletries Our next quarterly collection for the sample size toiletries will be held next weekend. Thank you to all who continue to donate items to benefit the women at Interval House. It s often that they arrive at the home without anything, and they appreciate the items you give them. 4 MAY 15, 2016 Religious Education June 1 Religious Education Registration deadline May Crowning of Our Blessed Mother Thank you to Suzanne Chapman, Maya Betts and Andrew Case for taking part in the May Crowning last Sunday at the 10:00 AM Mass. Partners in Faith Parents, copies of the May issue of Partners in Faith are located in the hanging file at the canopy entrance of the Church please take a copy home with you. Partners In Faith is a monthly newsletter designed for parents to help our children grow in their Catholic faith. Catechists If you have not yet returned your Religious Education materials & supplies, please drop them off in the Religious Education Office at your earliest convenience Thank you! Registration for 2016/2017 Religious Education Classes has begun. Registration forms have been mailed to all families whose children were enrolled in the Religious Education Program this year. Registration forms must be returned by Wednesday, June 1, If your child was not enrolled in the Religious Education Program this year, please contact the Religious Education Office. Confirmation Program for Students in Grades 9 & 10 - Students entering 9 th or 10 th Grade in September, in public or Catholic schools, and wishing to receive the sacrament of Confirmation within Saint Joseph Parish are required to register for Confirmation Preparation Classes. Registration forms have been mailed to families whose children were enrolled in the Religious Education Program this year; the same Religious Education Registration form is used to register students in grades K through 10.
