October 10 & 11, 2015 Dear Parishioners, The Season of Fall is truly upon us! I can smell it in the air and notice that it is getting dark earlier each day. I realize this especially after dinner when I take my bicycle for a ride around Lake Merced. One of the many things that I love about living here in the San Francisco Bay Area is that we do experience the four seasons. Liturgically things have begun to change up a bit also as we move into fall. You will notice that the choir is back from its summer break. Please note some new faces in the choir. We have five new members, two in the Bass/Baritone section, one in the Alto section and a two in the Soprano section. This is a beautiful sign of growth and a blessing that parishioners choose to serve in this ministry. Another change for the choir this fall has been the rehearsal day. With the construction going on where we once parked our cars the choir has chosen to give up our Tuesday night rehearsal in the church for the time being. We now practice each Sunday after the 10:30am Liturgy. If you stay long enough at hospitality after the 10:30am Mass you will get a head start on the hymns that we will be singing the following Sunday. The art and environment in the church also takes on a different look. Marilyn and her committee have already begun to introduce mums and other plants reflecting fall colors and soon the banners will change and support this Seasonal shift more profoundly. All of this leads us toward the month of November when we will remember our deceased loved one by attaching paper leaves to the banner that will be carried in our liturgical procession throughout that month. The Feast of All Saints, November 1 will be celebrated this year on a Sunday. Many of you will remember this is the liturgy where we sing the Litany of Saint including the names of our loved ones who have gone home to God in the last three years. Please consider inviting a friend to Mass with you that weekend to share this most solemn prayer. Finally, I don't know about you but I miss having our pastor, Father Ray Allender around our parish and his wonderful prayerful homilies. Let's continue to keep him in our daily prayers as he enjoys a much deserved sabbatical until his return December 1.

Children s Care during Liturgy Care is provided for children 18 months through 5 years of age during the Sunday 10:30 AM Mass. Our Daycare Room is located across from the daily mass chapel and is open for all Masses. Parents with children under 18 months are welcome to use the daycare room as long as at least one parent stays with the child. Ignatian Spiritual Life Center The Spiritual Life Center (1611 Oak Street) provides programs and services to the parish and larger faith community through educational programs, opportunities for prayer, and community events. 5 Apostles Creed I believe in God, the Father almighty, Creator of heaven and earth; And in Jesus Christ, his only Son, Our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church; the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen. Stewardship Prayer Lord and source of all gifts, I rejoice in the fullness of your generosity. I thank you for those whose lives are visible signs of your love and blessing to others. Give me the courage to do the same. Make me a good steward of all I have received generously sharing my time, abilities and material resources to build up your kingdom of love and justice. We ask this through Jesus Christ, in whom we begin and end all things. Amen. Prayer of St. Francis (Prayer for Peace) Lord, make me an instrument of your peace; where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; and where there is sadness, joy.
