17 Resources A couple of scriptural references for Repentance (Note: there are many others) The Prodigal Son, Luke 15:11-32 Then the son said to him, Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you; I am no longer worthy to be called your son. But the father said to his slaves, Quickly, bring out a robe the best one and put it on him; put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. And get the fatted calf and kill it, and let us eat and celebrate; for this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found! Luke 24: Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures. He told them, "This is what is written: The Christ will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, and repentance and forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. What our tradition identifies as our shortcomings Litany of Penitence, BCP p267ff (from Ash Wednesday Service) The Great Litany, BCP p148ff Reconciliation of the Penitent, BCP p447ff A few prayers that can be helpful Prayers for guidance, confidence, protection, and self-dedication Prayers 57-62, BCP p832ff
