Page 2 Fourth Sunday of Ordinary Time January 28, 2018 From the Associate Pastor s Desk Back next week All are invited... Fr. Richard Simon, of Relevant Radio s Father Simon Says, will give the Lenten Mission at St. Catherine Laboure Parish on Sunday, Feb. 25 at 7:30 pm and Monday, Feb.26 at 7:00 pm. His topic is Repentance: It s Not What You Think! Come join us as Lent gets underway and Fr. Simon tells us what it means to Repent! And believe the gospel! Refreshments served. Free-will offering. St. Catherine Laboure, 3535 Thornwood, Glenview IL. 847-729-1414. SIJ Emergency Operations Plan SERVICE OPPORTUNITY We have been asked by the Rest In His Arms Angel Gowns ministry to host a sewing workshop on a Saturday in March, May, July or August, 9:30 a.m. 2:30 p.m. here at St. Isaac Jogues. The group deconstructs used wedding gowns and makes burial gowns for infants. They have seamstresses and machines, but would welcome other sewers and others who want to help in some way with this work of prayer and consolation. Would you want to be part of this workshop and help? We d like to know if people are interested and willing to commit themselves to be involved in this workshop. If you would like to be part of this event, please contact the RE Office, 847/966-1180 or sijre2004@yahoo.com, this week with your name, phone number/ email address and which month might be best to host here at SIJ. Thank you. We all try to prepare for situations like small kitchen fires & electrical outages or weather events including heavy snow, ice, rain, tornados and lightening, but there are other situations that require our attention and vigilance. It is sad to think that churches and schools have become targets for those who choose to do harm to people or property. In 2016, the Archdiocese of Chicago, together with the Illinois Department of Homeland Security invited parishes to develop their own EOP. Several of us participated in the exercise including Children s Learning World and the Paderewski Polish School. We worked with local organizations to establish evacuation sites if necessary. Colonial Funeral Home and Washington School are sites we can use. We worked with local Fire & Police Department officials to understand what areas of the campus would be best for us to move to in case of tornado. The first responders also helped us understand our challenges - and how to mitigate as best as possible. Other little things were done to help. Notice that all doors both inside and out have numbers above them - - numbers that help to identify your location or direct you to a safe area. Guides have been posted in all of the classrooms to help direct occupants to the nearest exit. Emergency phone trees were created. Phone numbers for most parishioners are available in the Guide Book & Directory. Emergency procedures were posted in kitchens. Frs. Mario & Carlos, Deacon Paul Stanton and Dee Stanton are your Emergency Team Leaders and will serve as your liaison with Fire & Police in emergency situations. SIJ has a plan - which will be revisited & updated and communicated. Watch the bulletin over the next several months for more information.

Page 4 Page 6 The Fourth most Sunday holy of Ordinary trinity Time May 22, January 201628, 2018 Please spend some time this week reflecting on the Annual Catholic Appeal brochure that you will find here in the bulletin. God has blessed each of us in so many ways. What can we do to express our gratitude and help carry on the mission Jesus gave to the Church? Kindly remember that the ACA is much different than a one-time special collection. It is a pledge campaign where you can make a gift payable in installments. Each pledge makes a difference because all parishes participate in the campaign and the gifts of many enable our Archdiocese to deliver needed ministries and services to answer Jesus call to Come, Follow Me. After our parish goal of $31,752 is reached in cash, 100% of any additional funds come back to our parish to help fund our needs. If you received a pledge form in the mail and did not mail it back yet, please bring it to Mass next weekend. If you received a pledge form and did mail it back, you will be asked to fill out a card with identifying information only for recordkeeping purposes. If you did not receive a mailing or have not had time to respond to it, we will conduct the in-pew pledge process at all Masses next weekend after listening to Cardinal Cupich s homily on cd. Thank you for your prayerful consideration and generous response. Log in to givecentral.org and register today!
