8 Notes for ELDAD TAYLOR: Hon. Eldad Taylor was the fourteenth and youngest child of Reverend Edward Taylor, and he was born when his father was 66 years of age. Eldad was a farmer who devoted many years of his life to the service of his town and the province of Massachusetts. He was a selectman of Westfield for ten years, he was the town clerk for thirty years, and he was a justice of the peace for three years. John Taylor graduated Yale College 1784 and settled as the pastor of the church in Deerfield, Massachusetts, Feb. 14, He marri ed Elizabeth Terry in Enfield, Conn., on June 24, 1788, as recorded in the reco rds of the First Congregational Church of Enfield. He resigned from his pastor al charge in Deerfield in 1806 on account of ill health and removed to Enfield. He and Elizabeth were received into the Congregational church in Enfield on Ju ly 5, 1807, and were listed as members of that church in 1816 at the ordination of Rev. Francis L. Robbins. Was reinterred in a cemetery at a Presbyterian Church in Pendleton in Pickens County. (Elizabeth Hayden Taylor) Wyllys H. Taylor, Former Head of Newnan, Dies at 79 Greenville, SC. Wyllys Hard Taylor, Sr., 79, the former president of Newnan Cotton Mills, Newnan, Ga. And a well-known private consultant to the textile industry, died here after several months of declining health. During his presidency of Newnan ( ) the firm was credited with the development of the method of spinning worsted and synthetic fibers on modified cotton machinery now known as the American system of worsted spinning. A native of Pendleton, S. C. area, Mr. Taylor was graduated from Clemson College in 1905 and was a civil engineer in railroad construction and later in the Philippine Islands before joining J. E. Sirrine Co. here, in the designing and construction of textile plants. After World War I service in France as a Captain of combat engineers, he was superintendent of Republic Cotton Mills, Great Falls, S. C. for 10 years and in 1928 became vice-president and general manager of Slater Manufacturing Co. Slater, S. C. He held that post until 1937 when he served one year as vice-president of the Appleton Co., Anderson, S. C. In 1950, he joined the National Production Authority, U. S. Department of Commerce, Washington, D. C. and served until 1953 as chief, Cotton Branch, Textile Division. From 1953 to 1957, he was chief, Cotton Branch, Textile and Clothing Division, Business and Defense Services Administration, U. S. Department of Commerce, and at various times was acting director of the division. He retired Aug. 1, 1957, to become a textile consultant and returned to Greenville from Arlington, Va., in Among other activities, Mr. Taylor held directorships in the Cotton Manufacturers Association of Georgia, Textile Education Foundation of Georgia, Cotton Textile Institute, American Cotton Textile Association, and American Cotton Textile Institute. Survivors include his widow; four sons; a brother John S. Taylor of Greenville, and a sister. Services will be held today in Mackey Mortuary at 11 a.m. with interment in Woodlawn Memorial Cemetery. Notes: J. E. Sirrine was merged and became CRS Sirrine in the 1980s and has since become Frasinelli Architecture. This was run in the Daily News Record on June 16, W. H.
