She married SAMUEL DWIGHT 150,151,152,153, in Northampton, Mass 155, son of NATHANIEL DWIGHT and MEHITABLE PARTRIDGE. He was born 1695 in Northampton, Massachusetts Bay Province 156, and died 1783 in Enfield, Hartford Co., Connecticut 156. Notes for MARY LYMAN: [ FTW] The birth of Mary Lyman went unrecorded in Northampton records and therefore th ere is no absolute certainty that John Lyman, Jr., and Mindwell (Sheldon) Pomer oy were her parents. Most genealogists--but by no means all--place John Jr. an d Mindwell as her parents because Northampton records show no births in this fa mily between 1693, when a son John was born, and 1698, when a daughter Esther w as born. Mary is given a birth year of 1695 or 1696 and inserted into this fam ily line. This seeming arbitrariness might indicate that her grandparentage (L ieut. John Lyman and Dorcas Plumb) is also suspect, and that may very well be, but that the immigrant ancestor, Richard Lyman, and his wife, Sarah Osborne, we re her great-grandparents there can be no doubt: Richard and Sarah's three son s (Richard, Lieut. John, and Robert) were the progenitors of all males and fema les in Northampton named Lyman in the seventeenth and early eighteenth centurie s.
