I appointed a committee this year to bring me their person who they thought was deserving of this award.

These members have been the mainstay and backbone of our Posts financial success for many, many years. Since the Salute to Service is a singular award this committee has recommended Joe Schiel.

Joe is always willing to volunteer with numerous other Post activities. It is an honor to select Joe for this years Salute Service award.

Please don t ever stop working for our Veterans because this is what defines us. Now I would like to ask for a little help.

But I want to begin by announcing the nominee for this year s Department of Colorado Salute to Service winner. I appointed a committee this year to bring me their person who they thought was deserving of this award. Here is what they said; If it was possible to select a group of outstanding Post members for a special Salute to Service it would be our Post bingo workers. These members have been the mainstay and backbone of our Posts financial success for many, many years. Since the Salute to Service is a singular award this committee has recommended Joe Schiel. A bingo worker for many years. Not only has Joe worked bingo he has been one of the Posts trustee s, and an active member of the Honor Guard. Joe is always willing to volunteer with numerous other Post activities. It is an honor to select Joe for this years Salute Service award. We have all done a GREAT job this year with our core VFW programs and community service. I would challenge any Post in Colorado to say they can rival US. Please don t ever stop working for our Veterans because this is what defines us. Now I would like to ask for a little help. Every April we have a Post clean up day where we try to do as much as we can outside and inside the Post. I would like to have that day this year be Saturday April 16 th beginning at 9:00 AM or if there is bad weather on the 16th or some other reason I don t know about at this time the alternate day is Saturday April 23rd at the same time. Thank you in advance for the help. Another THANK YOU needs to go out to all of the members, their families and friends who have been supporting our meals and to the volunteers who prepare, cook and serve them. We are doing so much better than in the past and it is only because of YOU! Last general meeting the Post started the nomination process to elect next year s officers and we will complete that process at our April meeting with last nominations and elections. From the Auxiliary President: Well another month has passed. Time sure goes by fast when you're having fun. By the time this goes to print elections will be over for another year.

For those of you who have not paid your dues yet, you have until May 31st and then you will be dropped.

2 From the Auxiliary President: Well another month has passed. Time sure goes by fast when you're having fun. By the time this goes to print elections will be over for another year. Here's hoping things went well for everyone and those elected will continue to help make Post 9644 the best in the state. For those of you who have not paid your dues yet, you have until May 31st and then you will be dropped. If after that you wish to still be a member you will have to go through the application process over again. Our scholarship is still open to members of the post, the auxiliary and the men's auxiliary and their families. If you are interested the deadline is May 15th to get your application in. Applications are available at the post and can be turned into me. We still need men's clothing for the VA Hospital clothing room. This benefits all Vets serviced by the hospital who may be homeless, down on their luck or just in need. They really need jeans, jackets, undergarments (must be new) and anything else you have hanging around that is still in good repair but of no use to you is welcome. I want to thank everyone for all the support given this year. We have had a great year with service to our veterans thanks to all that each of you have done with fund raising, event support, meal preparation, burger and bingo nights, bingo on Thursday, hospital events and all other support you've given. As I've stated before, I may be your president but each of you are the KEY to making our organization the success it is. Thanks for all you do. As we move forward may we each evaluate where we are at and what we can do more to support those who have given so much for the freedoms we so enjoy. May they never feel forgotten! Concetta Kile Auxiliary President From the Post Sr. Vice: Hope everyone had a great time on St. Patrick's Day. It s always a great time. One of my favorite holidays, followed by the Friday night dinner of corn beef and cabbage, which wouldn t be the same without it. Other than the burgers, Friday dinner and breakfast not many events happened in March. We had the COA in Colorado Springs on the 12th and 13th. A lot of good information there. Auxiliary bingo at Barry s on the 7th of March was a big success, 229 people came for the $11,000.OO+ jackpot. There were 2 winners. And I know one of them wasn't me. Ha! Ha! Congratulations to the Auxiliary for a very profitable day. And thanks to all the wonderful people who came to help. We couldn't have done it without you. Easter Sunday Buffet as usual was great. Thanks to everyone who came to enjoy it. On Palm Sunday Post 9644 held the District 10 meeting and a memorial service for the deceased members. May we keep all of them in our hearts! They were all a part of an elite class of people known as "Veterans".Other than the Salute to Service at Post 2121 in Greeley on April 23rd, I don't as of yet have much information as to what else is happening in April. The April Newsletter will tell us more. In closing I would like to thank all those who gave their time in helping where needed. I get the Park County paper and it had a large article about Marge Tinkey-a former member who recently passed away at 87. I posted it in the lobby.

Be a part of the solution, not a part of the problem. Hopefully I will retire as Chaplain. Tried before, but got recycled. It's time. Even though you didn't know her, you should read about a hardworking volunteer. It's too bad the writer never mentioned her VFW efforts. I did not know her, but I bet her and her husband Ed were dedicated here also. I have not heard of any illness or deaths. The District Memorial services at the Post was done very nicely. It is too bad more people don't attend-although I know Palm Sunday was perhaps difficult. The Post had 22 Comrades. That was due to Sr. Vice Paul & helper went thru the roster. Ladies had 18 departed and so many of those were long time dedicated workers. They will ALL be missed and we must work diligently to find replacements. The total District count was 85--but a few Posts made no report. Another reason to tell your family to let the VFW know in case of your death. You are important and it does matter. Prayers for all our service personnel deployed around the world, at home, suffering in hospitals, and battling PTSD. Lord bless the caregivers, comfort the grieving and heal our homebound, so they may return to us. BY WORKING TOGETHER, ORDINARY PEOPLE CAN ACHIEVE EXTRAORDINARY RESULTS. Doug Mayotte Post Chaplain

We've been practicing from the first of the year and are now ready to unveil our 2016 concert program. It's free, and we'd love to have you join us. You'll probably hear a couple marches, a patriotic piece, some show tunes, and perhaps a boss nova.
