2 First-Time Guests Our doors are wide open... to people from all backgrounds, regardless of where they are on their spiritual journey. Our worship services present an opportunity to worship God and receive practical teaching from His Word, the Bible. So whether you re a committed Christian who wants to sink your roots of faith deeper, or a spiritual seeker who s just starting to ask questions about God, you can find a home here at River Valley. Please take advantage of the information in this brochure. If you would like more information about our church, please visit the Information Center in the main lobby or visit our website at Relax and enjoy the Worship Service as our guest, we realize the songs we sing may be unfamiliar, so participate as much as you feel comfortable. Later in our service we will be collecting an offering. Please do not feel any obligation to give. The offering is intended for those who consider River Valley their church home. If you would like prayer our Prayer Team is available in the front of the auditorium at the end of each Worship Service. Take advantage of this opportunity to receive prayer concerning any needs that you may have. Also, our Prayer Room is open during and after all services as a quiet place to pray alone. Please fill out the Welcome Card it is located in the chair-back in front of you. Feel free to fill out this card with your information, decisions, praises, or prayer requests and place it in the offering basket when it is passed. 7 Outreach (local & global) Paul & Virginia Tanner Tanzania The Tanners moved to Mchinga, Tanzania at the beginning of the summer. Paul was the Logistics Director and was responsible for setting up housing and transportation for each new team for TIMO. They have recently joined Paul s brother in a new ministry still under AIM, but called KT or Kilimo Timilifu (Holistic Farming). Tanzanian churches have struggled to send their own missionaries to reach the remaining unreached people groups of Tanzania, especially the Muslim coast one of the most marginalized and impoverished areas of Tanzania. When missionaries and pastors enter this location, they are often ostracized and exploited as they have no relevant role in Muslim culture. The very label of missionary, pastor or church worker builds walls, not bridges, despite good intentions. Additionally, national missionaries have struggled to secure a quality education for their children when they are sent to this under-developed location. KT will implement a holistic approach to farming whereby the farmer recognizes that a personal relationship with the Creator of soil and seed is vital to successful harvest from the soil and of the hearts of men. KT will work in community and will train on site up to 12 Tanzanian intern families per year from various evangelical churches/missions. The interns will be empowered to provide for themselves and enter these traditionally closed coastal areas with a role that can bridge the barriers of Islam, combat poverty, and create opportunities to effectively share the gospel. The result will be Jesus-loving Tanzanians living as self-supporting church planters as they use their skill as farmers and trainers to bless the communities they enter. Home Group Spotlight The Woolard/ Heinitz Group John and Sally Woolard, and John and Ellen Heinitz lead a group together on Friday nights at 7pm. They meet in various homes throughout the NW area of town. Sally says, Our goal as a home group is to share life together and to live intentionally for the Savior. To get connected to a Home Group and dive into fellowship, call Carrie Jubas: (541) x102. Cave Junction Home Group Beginning Wednesday, October 14, 6:30-8:00pm, at the home of Frank and April Wells, 281 Merlot Drive. Call Carrie with any questions, x102. Come and enter in!
