2 First-Time Guests Our doors are wide open... to people from all backgrounds, regardless of where they are on their spiritual journey. ur worship services present an opportunity to worship God and receive practical teaching from His Word, the Bible. So whether you re a committed Christian who wants to sink your roots of faith deeper, or a spiritual seeker who s just starting to ask questions about God, you can find a home here at River Valley. Please take advantage of the information in this brochure. If you would like more information about our church, please visit the Information Table in the lobby or visit our website at Relax and enjoy the Worship Service as our guest, we realize the songs we sing may be unfamiliar, so participate as much as you feel comfortable. Later in our service we will be collecting an offering. Please do not feel any obligation to give. The offering is intended for those who consider River Valley their church home. If you would like prayer our Prayer Team is available in the front of the auditorium at the end of each Worship Service. Take advantage of this opportunity to receive prayer concerning any needs that you may have. Also, our Prayer Room is open during and after all services as a quiet place to pray alone. 4 Life Group Spotlight Abbott Group The Abbott Group is age specific, from High school graduates up to 23 years old. They meet at 6:30pm on Sundays for food and fellowship. Austin says, The mission of this group is to make Jesus known. We believe that in order to properly engage with our generation, we must first be a group of Gospel-saturated individuals who are not ashamed of the Good News of Jesus Christ. As a group, we hold each other accountable for our actions and are constantly striving for Holiness. To get connected to a Life Group, call Carrie Jubas at x102.

5 LG+ Life Group Plus Fall 2016 In addition to our Life Groups, we have many specialty groups called Life Groups Plus (LG+). These seasonal classes and groups have a specific topic/emphasis and seek to incorporate Life Group DNA. Cost: $16 * + NCP CONQUER SERIES FOR MEN, Doug Higuera September 18--October Downtown Campus The Point Building, Room P-105 As a pastor I have encountered many men who were trapped or stuck in their walk with God because they had become ensnared in a porn addiction. I felt ill-equipped to help them until I saw this series last June. This is a 5-week DVD class that is for those who want to be able to speak to sons, grandsons, friends and brothers who are trapped in sexual addiction and also for those who know they have given ground to the flesh in regards to sexual sin and now seem powerless to get that ground back. BROKEN CHILDREN, GROWN-UP PAIN, Sharon Lawler September 27 November Redwood Campus Library Room R-116 Even if the memories are distant and dulled by time, past wounds caused by abuse, rejection, and/or abandonment continue to inflict pain into adulthood, often spilling over into the lives of those you love. 6 Outreach (local & global) Uganda Team Thoughts from Tom Criswell Coming home...talk about culture shift! After experiencing 16 days of this kind of thing, my initial "take away" is this: much of the blessing I, my family and my church receive daily originates from children who know all too well malaria, heat, thirst, cough, poverty, but also hope! At every Rescue Unit and at SonShine Christian High School, I was prayed for and given thanks for by kids who celebrated ME. They knew well, that the team that came from the U.S. as representatives had been doing a long list of things this past year just for them such as providing blankets for sleeping mats, mosquito nets, shoes, and malaria meds. Our reasons frankly came primarily from one thing : Obedience. Followers of Christ are commanded to care for widows and orphans. Granted, sometimes we all do "good stuff" so that we may feel good about ourselves or look good to others. This is called being human in a broken world. But I believe much is done out of HIS call to "do it". Thank you for all your generous donations and prayers! W.H.O. (Women Hanging Out) Potluck the second Friday of the month 5:00-9:00pm, in room P-105 (The Point building at the corner of 8th & C Streets). An evening of games, fellowship and food.
