ALASKA REPORT This Sunday evening, we ll hear from our student ministry about their recent mission trip to Alaska. This will be a wonderful time to hear about God s work in their lives and how God moved through them while they were there. The first time I recall standing at the pulpit of my home church was a service just like this one. Come join us and bless these students with a hour of your time. Sunday night at 5 Pm in the fellowship Hall. DISCOVER EASTER As we begin our preparation for Easter, we want to challenge you to not just bring yourselves to Easter, but to bring others with you. That s the idea behind the Discover Easter cards and baskets. We want to put tools in each of our hands to encourage us to bring people to Jesus! My prayer is that you ll pick up some cards and take them with you as you go about your week. Give them to those around you and let them know they are ALWAYS welcome at the First Family.... but especially at Easter! WHY THE CROSS STILL MATTERS We ll begin our journey to Easter on Palm Sunday. Our services that day will be identical as they will be on Easter Sunday. We want everyone to experience the same thing. Some years ago, I was convicted that you cannot know the glory of Easter until you ve known the darkness of Good Friday. We ll remember that on Palm Sunday with a message I ve entitled Why the cross still matters. Our order of service will be quite different that day and we ll conclude the service with the Lord s Supper. My prayer is that you ll walk away from that service with a better understanding of what happened in Christ s last week of earthly ministry and how that influences us today. SAFETY TRAINING This Sunday, April 7 at 3:30 pm in the Chapel This is your opportunity to learn what our Safety and Security team is doing and how you can be involved. There are many definitions in today s world of what Easter is all about. We invite you into the conversation by joining us to Discover Easter with our First Baptist Family and to be intentional by inviting your neighbors and friends. There are two resources available today to help you do this: 1. Discover Easter business size cards are available to pick up and leave with friends/neighbors/restaurants 2. Easter baskets are available to pick up today to fill and take to friends and neighbors. Pick up an unfilled Easter basket from the Chapel Foyer this Sunday Be sure to grab an interactive gospel tract for kids Fill the basket with an Easter goodie! Deliver to a family in your neighborhood Invite them to join us in worship this Easter!

3 Pray for Direct Support Missionaries: Buckner Family Pathways in Midland, Tx Please pray for: Foster care families and recruitment for new families The hard work and continued success of two mothers who are working toward graduation from the Family Pathways program in May All the families in our programs - the children they are caring for, the biological families of these children, and the Family Pathways families who are working hard to go to school, parent, and work to build strong families Meals@Home FBC's 8 Week Family Challenge Family meals provide a place to belong, a sense of identity for children and a rhythm for healthier lifestyles. At FBC, we want to encourage families to spend time together at the dinner table. The Meals@Home campaign is designed to challenge families to create a habit of eating meals together at least 3 times a week. FBC resources to help you have intentional conversations with your family may be found on the tables in both the Fish Tank area and the Chapel Foyer. We would love for you to join us in this family ministry! Drawings to be held each week with a grand prize drawing at the end of 8 weeks for a $200 HEB gift card! Martha Adams WMU Scholarship Scholarship applications & guidelines are available at the Welcome Center Reception Desk. This scholarship is open to any college student attending any college or university, but may be received only once. Completed applications will be accepted all through the month of April. The deadline to turn in applications is Sunday, May 5. No application will be accepted after the May 5 deadline. Please pick up & return all completed applications to the Welcome Center Reception Desk. Designated gifts and memorials may be given to this scholarship fund allowing more students to benefit. April 28 May 5, 2019 FBC will be hosting families that are in the Family Promise program. Will you PLEASE give of yourself and volunteer? We need the following: (1) Food/dinner preparers. (2) Volunteers to provide hospitality to the families during the evening. (3) Volunteers to spend the night at the Sonshine House. Family Promise is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to end family homelessness, one family at a time. Family Promise has mobilized the faith community in Midland to assist homeless families in our area. FBC opens our doors to families, 4 times a year, a week at a time, to provide food, shelter, and most importantly hospitality to families in the throes of homelessness.
