What an amazing Easter celebration we had! A special word of gratitude to Aaron Hodges, our choir, our orchestra and our musicians for their faithful and long day Sunday. I m deeply grateful for the music you led in. This was an Easter like I had never known and I m glad I got to spend it with my First family. EASTER CONTINUES THIS WEEK This Sunday, we ll be talking about Living with Easter in my heart all year long from Romans 12. I m excited to share this Sunday with you and pray that Easter isn t an annual event for you, but a daily one. You don t have to wait for Easter to celebrate Jesus resurrection. You can do it today! MISSIONS PASTOR SEARCH Now, life returns to something like normal, whatever that might be. And that means we start looking for a new missions pastor. I d like to say again how much I appreciate Hank Henry. I hope I grow up to be half the man he is. We are indebted to you my friend. Please pray for our search committee as they begin their work: Kay Burchard, Vickie Bucy, Mike Mayer, Vicki Brown, Scott Daw and Kim Ortega. We re blessed with many fine choices already. Pray with me that we have our new missions pastor by the time school returns in August. In the meantime, our interim will be admirably served by Eva Diaz. I cannot think of anyone more qualified to lead this time than Eva. Pray for the Lord s wisdom for her and her family. I m grateful for you, Eva. God has placed you here for just such a time as this. SOMETHING I VE NEVER DONE On Thursday, April 12, I m doing something I ve never done leave home for 2 weeks. That day, I ll leave with Getaneh Getaneh, Mike Mayer, DiAnn Koehl and several others for Adama, Ethiopia where we ll be leading a leadership conference April I ll be preaching Sunday, April 15th in Ethiopia. From there, I m going to join Keith Skaar in Beirut, Lebanon to meet with one of our strategic partners in the Middle East. It s a short flight from where we are in Africa, so in discussing it, we felt like it was a better use of the Lord s time and money to make two trips into one. Thus, I ll be preaching Sunday, April 22 in Beirut. You ll be led capably by Cory Brand both Sundays and I m confident you ll be led well. I m excited about the opportunity to be useful to the Lord in this way, but dragging my feet about leaving home. Would you pray for our journey and our service there? Pray for my family and encourage them as you have opportunity. Pray for those we will serve. Meet me back at FBC on Sunday, April 29th, as we welcome our friends from the Texas Baptist Conference on the Deaf. Youth Ministry is to empower local teenage youth to surpass the perceived limitations of socioeconomic adversity and transform both their character and self-confidence by providing support to aid in spiritual development, social responsibility, and future aspirations. By offering implicit acceptance of students from any and all backgrounds, guiding them through the teachings of the Gospel, and encouraging social development through peer leadership and community service, Teen F.L.O.W. provides the kind of support one would expect from a second family. We help students develop the skills necessary for personal success and allow for a spiritually transformative experience to direct their lives both now and well into adulthood. F R I E N DS Martha Adams WMU Scholarship Scholarship applications & guidelines are available in the Welcome Center. This scholarship is open to any college student attending any college or university, but may be received only once. Completed applications will be accepted all during the month of April. The deadline to turn in applications is Sunday, May 6. No application will be accepted after the May 6 deadline. Please pick up & return all completed applications to the Welcome Center Reception Desk. Designated gifts and memorials may be given to this scholarship fund allowing more students to benefit.
