Evening will consist of a light potluck,then watching a new Fr. Barron lecture series, discussion questions and faith sharing. All are welcome! Applicants need to have a strong theological background, be a Catholic in good standing, have a good work ethic, and work well as a member of a team with both Cathedral and Diocesan staff. Successful applicant must be trained in Catechesis of the Good Shepherd or willing to obtain training. The Director of Religious Education will oversee and maintain the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program, Parish Night programs, run youth retreats, and Middle School Youth Group. Duties for above include but are not limited to: WHY DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY??? Saint Pope John Paul II, as the great Mercy Pope, emphasized the importance of observing and professing God s mercy in the Church and in the whole world. In the year 2000 at the canonization of St. Faustina, he named the Sunday following Easter to be Divine Mercy Sunday. He himself was canonized a saint on Divine Mercy Sunday last year. Please join us as we pray the Divine Mercy Novena as Jesus dictated it to St. Faustina. In paragraph 699 of her diary, Saint Faustina wrote that Jesus spoke these words to her: I desire that the Feast of Mercy be a refuge and shelter for all souls, and especially for poor sinners... On that day the very depths of My tender mercy are open... The soul that will go to Confession and receive Holy Communion shall obtain complete forgiveness of sins and punishment... Let no soul fear to draw near to Me, even though its sins be as scarlet... It is My desire that it (the Feast of Mercy) be solemnly celebrated on the Sunday after Easter. Mankind will not have peace until it turns to the Fount of My Mercy. Training and supporting volunteer Catechists. Scheduling of class times and sizes. Preparing children for the Sacraments of First Reconciliation, First Communion and Confirmation. Preparing families for the Sacrament of Baptism. Work with Office Manager to maintain records for Children and Families in the program. Computer literate, ability to work with Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, and Database programs. Ability to understand budgeting process and track budget for the programs. Other duties include to supporting the community and assisting at parish wide special events. Love INC Searching For an Executive Director Love In the Name of Christ (Love INC) of Juneau is a local nonprofit organization composed of a 26 local partner Christian churches. The mission on Love INC is to mobilize local churches to transform lives and communities in the name of Christ. It takes a team of volunteers from ALL our partner churches to keep the Clearing House functioning. Do you have a few hours you can work with us M, W, F or Tuesday evenings? These items will be used for a youth service project to support this ministry. Food: The pantry is very lean right now. All non-expired donations are needed especially: jam, instant potatoes, canned milk. Furniture: Spring Cleaning? We need couches, chairs, dressers, small kitchen tables/chairs, small book shelves, bunk beds and mattresses/frames sizes: Twin, Full & Queen.
