1 The TRIPLETTER FEBRUARY 2018 Sunday Worship: 8:30; 9:45; 11:00 am Sunday School: 10:00, 10:50am Prayer: Tuesdays: 6:30am & 8:00 am Wednesday Children s Ministry: 5:45pm Wednesday Service: 6:15pm Matthew West has a new song that has touched a chord in my heart, Broken Things. It is a great reminder of the power of God to heal and even use broken things. In Paul s letter to the Romans he reminded us that we are all broken and fall short of the glory of God. It is Christ who puts us back together again through a gift called grace. He did this through redemption. This is why we keep our eyes on the cross. There will, likely, be many changes and differences seen at Triplett UMC during The truth and reality of life is that we are never promised tomorrow. We are encouraged to not look at yesterday, nor for tomorrow, but to look toward the Cross continuously. Our world is changing daily; so is the Church. This situation creates a need for enthusiasm and excitement. Why? Because the familiar is gone. We need one another. We need to join together. We need to know that the mission is not about us and our ways but, about Him and His ways. We need to be enthusiastic to see what God has for us and we need to be excited to open the doors for the blessings. There is HOPE. Hold on to the hope. Hold on to the desire to make a difference in another person s life. Hold on to Jesus. Because 2018 will be unlike anything ever seen before at Triplett, it has been concluded that this space, the front page of the Tripletter, may not always have, nor need, an article by the Pastor. It may not always have an article. Please know that we are intentionally transitioning to formats that, we pray, will be effective in touching lives far and wide, as well as near to home. If you would like to submit constructive criticism please direct your s to: triplettoffice@gmail.com or write a note to: Triplett Staff, 838 Mazeppa Road, Mooresville NC We are blessed to be alongside of you in representing the Church Eternal. In the words of Helen H. Lemmel as she wrote it in 1922, Turn Your Eyes upon Jesus, look full in His wonderful face. We know that the things of earth will grow dim when we look to the Light of His Glory and Grace. Anyone, and we truly, absolutely positively mean ANYONE WE ARE ALL THE BODY OF CHRIST Mondays at 6:15 pm in the CLC COME ONE, COME ALL to hear Pastor Kirk Tutterow, a UMC designated expert in relationships, who is coming to Triplett for an 8-week experience on how to disagree with integrity and be better for it, how to belong to a group/church when you don t agree, how to belong with honor, how to belong within godliness.

The Breakfast Club is a new small group dedicated to our high school and college age youth here at Triplett. We meet Sundays at 10:50 in the Hut. The first six-week study is called The Top 13 Questions About God which focuses on some of the tougher questions we face daily about the Lord. Please join us! For more information and/or questions please contact Bobby Robinson (980) CATERPILLARS TO BUTTERFLIES Often the life and death of Jesus is compared to the transformation from caterpillar to butterfly. This year during the Lenten Season, the Education Committee is giving everyone the opportunity to experience that transformation first hand. Caterpillars and their Habitats are available for order. The nylon mesh habitat gives children a clear view of their buggy friends and is perfect for the home or classroom. The Butterfly Garden Habitat is 12 inches tall and collapses flat for easy storage. Price: $ Caterpillars are available at $1 each. Caterpillars will come in a plastic cup full of food. Transformation of caterpillars will take place right before Easter. We plan for a mass release on Easter morning here at the church. Order forms will be in the bulletin and may be placed in the offering plate or see Linda Ketchie or lindaketchie@windstream.net February Anniversaries Chad & Renee Holloway 2/2 Durwin & Caryn Striplin 2/3 Eddie & Barbara Odom 2/10 Dale & Natalie Lambe 2/14 Charles & Awanda Davis 2/16 Norris & Donna McConnell 2/16 Barry & Lynn McAllister 2/17 Buzzy & Jean Benfield 2/22

Triplett UMC has been a long time ministry partner in this vital community service. SOUP KITCHEN MINISTRY All volunteers are asked to be at the Kitchen at 8:00 am on Thursday, February 8th. WHY DO CHRISTIANS FAST? - There are several reasons why Christians fast, and many ways to fast. Pastor Rick is asking that the Triplett family fast between Tuesday February 6th at sundown until the Fat Tuesday Pancake break-fast on February 13th at 5:45pm here, at Triplett. How do you fast? You can give up one favorite thing for the week, take a tv or technology time out for the week, have no food and clear liquids only or eat only vegetables. Tailor the fast to your lifestyle and medical needs. The point of a fast is to focus on God. Focus on your relationship with God. Pray. Pray for a moving of the Spirit of God in your life. Sometimes we feel like we are separated from God because of the pressures of the world. REKINDLE your relationship. The Lord will move. "Whenever you fast, do not put on a gloomy face as the hypocrites do, for they neglect their appearance so that they will be noticed by men when they are fasting Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full. "But you, when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face so that your fasting will not be noticed by men, but by your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you. Matthew 6:16-18 FAST & PRAY Feb. 6th until February 13th Matthew 17:21 Move from here to there, and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you. But this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.
