1 TRIPLETT UNITED METHODIST CHURCH 838 Mazeppa Road, Mooresville, North Carolina 28115, Rev. Dr. Richard Rick Auten, Pastor, , Parsonage Eleanor Johnston, Administrator , Church Fax Linda Ketchie, Director of Christian Education Terry Willis, Day Care Director WEEKLY ANNOUNCEMENTS of September 13, 2015 ALTAR FLOWERS... are placed in the sanctuary today to the glory of God and in loving memory of Raine Angelley whose birthday was September 9 th. There is still a large vacant place in our homes and hearts for him. He was so very special to us all. Our comfort is knowing he is in the arms of Jesus. Sybil and the Angelley Family SAFE SANCTUARIES REMINDER... As a part of Triplett s Safe Sanctuaries policy, children and youth under the age of 18 are asked not to leave the sanctuary during the worship service unless accompanied by an adult. ***CHILDREN S CHURCH... Please remember that Children s Church is for ages 3 thru 2 nd grade. Third graders and up are asked to remain in the sanctuary with their parents. OUR NEW BUILDINGS! Good News! - the church has received notification from Duke Endowment that our grant has met with their approval. This means in the next 6-8 weeks the Building Fund will receive a check for $150, Due to the uncertainty of the weather and many last minute details yet to be done on the buildings, The Consecration of the buildings is being postponed to a later date. Homecoming will be celebrated next Sunday as it has been done in the past. The buildings will be open so visitors can appreciate what the future has in store for Triplett UMC. Both buildings will be open at the conclusion of both services today. Please remember the buildings are construction sites, so be careful. How Can Each Family Help Pay for Our New Buildings? The answer is purchase shopping cards. Every time you go to Food Lion, take a shopping card. A $ card equates to $5.00 that would go directly to the Building Fund. A $ Walmart card would add $2.00. A $25.00 O Charley s card would add $3.25. A $25.00 Lowe s Home Improvement card add $1.00. A $25.00 Belk card equates to $1.75 profit. If one family purchased all of these cards for their monthly shopping needs, we could add $13.00 to our Building Fund. This doesn t seem like a lot, but if we had 25 families to purchase these or similar cards, we could add $ per month to our Building Fund. (Those who have been purchasing cards since the beginning of our sales have helped raise $16,356.07!) Some families spend more than the monthly totals quoted above. You get the idea? The more cards purchased, the greater the profits. Keep in mind - the cards listed above are just a few of the many we stock. The beauty of our card sales is the fact that it doesn t cost you anything except the face value of the card. Please give this idea your consideration. When you see what the profits can do, you ll be happy you were able to help. PHOTO NAME TAGS: If you had your picture taken recently, your name tag has been added to the boards in the Narthex. Many of you still need to have your picture taken. Please see Nancy McDougall to make arrangements for your picture. For those of you who already have a name tag, I would appreciate it if you would consistently wear them.. This is really an easy way for people to learn names and faces. Fe llo w ship and frie nd line s s is w h at Trip le tt is all ab o ut! Thank you for your support of this project!! PICTORIAL CHURCH DIRECTORIES: If you have not received your new directory, please see or call Nancy McDougall at or

2 THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP! If you haven t picked up a blank quilt block, I still have plenty of quilt squares. At this time I am nearing 30 finished blocks so one new quilt can be completed in the next few weeks. Several of you have spoken to me about being nearly finished with your block, so please get them to me as soon as you can. See me for a quilt block and if you need ideas look at the quilts in the Fellowship Hall and think about what symbols represent you and your family s interests. We plan to complete three new quilts. Those of you who are regular visitors and are planning to join the church, please join us in this project. See Nancy McDougall and her pizza boxes of blank and completed blocks. This year s date is October 3 rd. This event is sponsored by the United Methodist Men but they need everyone s help to make this event a success. The United Methodist Men are asking for donations of desserts and tea, cooking sweet potatoes, and making slaw. Please contact Dale or Darrin Davis for an area in which you would like to volunteer. **If you would like to volunteer but need child care for your little one, please contact Linda Ketchie.** FOOD PANTRY UPDATE: Many children and their families continue to be in need. One way we can help is to keep our food pantry stocked with nutritious foods in order that we re able to answer the call for help at any time. Please add a few items from our pantry needs list to your shopping list when you buy for your family. Thanks for caring! WE NEED YOUR HELP! The Prayer Team is beginning a project to move the history of Triplett United Methodist Church to a central location. They are asking for your help, in any way, with pictures, newspaper articles or memories of your parents or grandparents. The history will be stored here at the church to be shared with each other and future generations. The past has made us what we are today and we want to keep the memories alive. Please contact any of the following: Sybil Angelley, Dale Davis, Vicki & Grier Tolbert, Barry & Lynn McAllister, Dianne Chelius, Dana Davis, and Dr. Rick Auten. Thank you for your help. PRAYER TEAM UPDATE! We are in need of snacks for the children to have after they get home from school. For many, this is their evening meal. Once again we are in need of coats -new or gently used and new socks and underwear for children K-5th grades. We cannot thank you enough for all you have helped us with for these children. PLEASE CONTINUE TO PRAY FOR OUR GOOD SAMARITAN FUND... As the overwhelming needs of so many people in our community continue to rise, please prayerfully consider a donation to our Good Samaritan Fund. Your support has helped more than you will ever know. With cold weather in the near future, it will be a wonderful thing to have a balance set up so that we can minister to those in need. Thank you for your continued support. THE TASTEFUL TABLE... Is there a copy of this book in your home? If not, there should be!!! It contains many tasteful recipes that have been tried out and proven delicious by Triplett members and friends. If you re a new member or just visiting, you need to check out this cookbook. Trust me, there s some delicious food between those 125 pages. I ve given a copy of this book to every older female member in my family. We report to each other recipes we ve tried and make recommendations for others to do the same. If you re like me, a big part of staying happy is found in eating. Come on folks! If you don t have a copy, you can get one for $ They make perfect gifts, too. (Christmas is on the way!) Buy one for yourself and for the ladies or cooking gentlemen in your life. You ll be glad you did!! Thanks from the Andy Thompson Scholarship Committee. ATTENTION ALL CURRENT KEY HOLDERS... Now that we have two new buildings the Trustees feel it is necessary to have some sort of Key Control. The doors to the present building will be rekeyed. This means the key you currently have will not allow you entrance into the building. If you feel it is necessary to have a key assigned to you, please see John Hill or Jim Murdock on October 9 th between 8:30 am and noon. New keys and security codes will be assigned at that time. The Christian Life Center and Activity Building will have separate keys. Keys to these buildings will be issued on a needs basis. Occasional key needs will be handled through the church office. There will be a sign out and return form. Thank you for your cooperation.

4 AMERICAN RED CROSS BLOOD DRIVE: We will be hosting a blood drive on Thursday, October 15 th from 2:00-6:30 pm. Please mark this life saving gift on your calendar. Our goal is 26 units. On our last drive we only had 14 units which caused us to be dropped as a host. So please plan to come out and give. You can sign-up online through the American Red Cross donor site or on the sign up sheet posted on the bulletin board. Walk-ins are still very much appreciated but try to sign-up in advance to help the Red Cross plan staffing. MEMORIALS: In loving memory of Nancy Belk to the Good Samaritan Fund given by Butch & Doris Brannen. In loving memory of Sarah Brawley to the ASP Youth Mission Fund given by the Crymes Family. SYMPATHY: We wish to express our sympathy to the family of Ann Auten (aunt to Rick Auten) who died September 7th. HONORS: In honor of Lucille Washington to the Good Samaritan Fund given by Dave & Sylvia Lambert.
