1 Frazeysburg United Methodist Church Open hearts, Open minds, Open doors. From the Pastor... What Do We Do Now? As we observe the face of this nation after the election we see a face that is not particularly attractive. Lady Liberty looks pretty ugly right now, but it is important to remember that the protests and negative rhetoric being cast at newly elected President Trump is unique in the world. In many nations, even developed nations, such protests and negative rhetoric are not allowed. President Trump was heavily criticized for his statement that he was considering not accepting the outcome of the election. Many of his deepest critics called his statement un-american and a danger to democracy. Those very people now do not accept the results of this election. It would be easy to look at those people and see them as they and ourselves as the children of God, enjoying God s favor (albeit unmerited). Yes, we are God s children, but so are unbelievers. Each person, no matter how far from God s Word, has a soul of infinite value to God. We are to introduce people to the Master, we are to bring people to Christ. As my favorite evangelist wrote, We do not get to screen the applicants; our job is to arrange a meeting with the Boss. (Max Lucado) Consider these words from Romans 11:17-21 (NIV): If some of the branches have been broken off, and you, though a wild olive shoot, have been grafted in among the others and now share in the nourishing sap from the olive root, do not boast over those branches. If you do, consider this: You do not support the root, but the root supports you. You will say then, "Branches were broken off so that I could be grafted in." Granted. But they were broken off because of unbelief, and you stand by faith. Do not be arrogant, but be afraid. For if God did not spare the natural branches, he will not spare you either. In the face of the insults, the foul language, the disappointing conduct of those who call themselves Americans, do not judge and do not condemn. As the Bible says, Do not return evil with evil. Return evil with love. Hang in there as we march on to Spring. Yours in Christ, Pastor Bob February 2017 Inside this issue: Scheduled to Serve Upcoming Events on Our Calendar Attendance & Offering Bulletin Board Thank You Page and Prayer Concerns Outreach Page: Dare to Care SOS Youth and KICK SOS Youth 9 Birthday s/ Anniversary 10 February Calendar 11
