He said, Lord that I may receive my sight (Luke 18:41) Recently I read a daily devotional on this very scripture and thought about how God changes things in accordance with His will. Our Lord transforms each Christian by the power of the Holy Spirit not just once but during the entire length of their faith journey. The blind man of this story was healed due to the fact that he had belief in the healing of the great Physician. This instant healing of the blind man changed his entire life from that point forward. Healing and transformation in the life of a Christian continues to shape and mold them into a new creation to the point that they no longer recognize the old self. The congregation as a whole at Faith UMC has been asking and praying for change, transformation, and healing in accordance with the life of the Church. Long before my arrival, the Visioning Team started their work and prayed that the Holy Spirit will guide them to grasp a clear and focused view of the role that Faith UMC is to fulfill in bringing glory to God. I am excited to announce that the Visioning Team will be finishing up Paragraph 213 with just a few more meetings and have a town hall gathering on April 10 th to discuss the findings. They will then later present their recommendations to the Administrative Board in regards to moving forward. Some forms of change that we experience in life are easy to get along with while other changes never feel totally comfortable for us. A time change is set to spring forward in a few weeks and some people will have a hard time adjusting to the lost hour. Some will prosper in activity and others will go on as if nothing has really changed in their life. What would happen if God granted Faith UMC the very thing that it has been asking for? How would your daily life be different and what impacts would be involved? The blind man in this story could never claim to be blind again and therefore followed Jesus allowing his life to bring glory to his Heavenly Father. Jesus asks, What do you want Me to do for you? 2 VISIONING TEAM Meeting recap: The Vision Team spent time in February reviewing a summary presented by Karl Bauman of the assets, income and expenses of the church. The summary gave a unique perspective on the general budget and other funds of the church, including the endowment, memorial, building and the three mission funds (Our Church, Our Community and Our World). Faith UMC has a 2016 General Fund Budget of 181,480 with projected income for 2016 at 181,658. It is clear that we are blessed to be part of a giving congregation that has put us in good financial standing where we are not currently struggling to fund our general (operating) budget. Because of our financial standing there is huge opportunity for our church to continue to plan externally focused mission opportunities. Below is a brief table to show this year s expenses and last year s income. During the next meeting the group will be led through a Transition Primer Workbook to learn ways of facilitating healthy change. Discussion will also take place from the group s reading of Congregational Leadership in Anxious Times, by Peter L. Steinke.
