A link with needed documents will be sent to you soon. 2.) Attend Serve Week Training We will have 4 training meetings for Serve Week. Each participant will be required to attend 3 of the 4. You will receive an it may go to your SPAM folder so you may need to check there. Once you watch the video and take the quiz, it will automatically send me the results of the quiz. This is mandatory for all adults; you will not be able to attend Serve Week without this training. 4.) Be the support We must remember that this is the students mission trip. We must allow them to do the work. Our job is to support them, encourage them and help them when necessary. There will be students on this trip that need all the support we can give them and need to be shown the love of an adult that cares for them. We need to be that for them!
3 WHAT TO BRING Air mattress, sleeping bag, blanket, pillow towels and shower shoes Bible work clothes (clothes that you don t mind getting soiled or maybe ruined) T-shirts (NO TANK TOPS) shorts (modest length) jeans casual clothes comfortable, safe closed-toed shoes (tennis shoes or sneakers) sandals if desired but only to wear off duty away from mission site (open toed footwear is NOT permitted during working hours) appropriate sleeping attire (you will be required to be FULLY dressed when out of your bunk rooms and in hallways) toiletries & sun block lotion prescribed medications (if any) spending money paint brush work gloves personal water bottle WHAT NOT TO BRING any prank stuff drugs, alcohol, tobacco products & e-cigarettes any type of weapon (firearms, guns or knives) fireworks or anything like that whiney, grumpy, complaining attitude anything else that would take the focus off of what you are there for! THINGS WE HAVE AN UNDERSTANDING ABOUT PLEASE READ OVER THIS LIST AND UNDERSTAND EACH ITEM 1. All participants must keep a good attitude. Attitude is the key to everything else! 2. All participants must be ON TIME and participate in all services, activities and meals. 3. Cell phones will not be permitted on Ministry sites. 4. If you aren t sure where to go or what to do ask a sponsor! 5. Students must remain in their dorms from "lights out" until 7:00am. 6. No girls in guys rooms/no guys in girls rooms! No exceptions! 7. Students are expected to read and follow the dress code. 8. Shoes should always be worn outside the dorm room. 9. You are responsible for keeping all of your belongings ON or UNDER your bunk. You will be expected to keep your dorm and bathroom clean. Take care of your stuff and respect other people s stuff! 10. There will be no rough play permitted in the dorms, cafeteria or worship center. Any property damage will be paid for by the student(s) responsible and his or her family.
4 11. Please limit the use of shaving cream, toothpaste and toilet paper to the restroom area. Do not administer these items to anyone or anything other than yourself. If you make a mess, clean it up! 12. The following items are not allowed at Serve Week: knives, fireworks, firearms, radios, personal stereo devices (except for use with headphones when going to sleep), video games, drugs, alcohol, tobacco products, e-cigarettes, water balloons, airsoft guns, or water guns. These will be confiscated upon detection. Leave the games, weapons and technology at home! 13. Do not leave the camp grounds without the permission of the Youth Minister. 14. Please do not tamper with the air conditioning controls. You can cause a problem for everyone! Turning the thermostat too high or too low can result in the unit malfunctioning. DRESS CODE Out of respect for Christ and each other, and as a result of fashion trends, we have established a dress code (similar to the AISD/MISD Dress Codes) at camp. Please keep the following guidelines in mind when shopping and/or packing for the week. The adult sponsors will help make sure we are all following this agreement. Students who choose to violate these guidelines will have the choice of changing clothes or risk being sent home at their own cost. SHIRTS AND BLOUSES: Please do not wear shirts that have questionable or potentially offensive pictures, logos or statements on them. It s not the best way to draw attention to yourself. Daytime events: wear appropriate shirts for daytime activities. Tank tops are not allowed outside the dorm rooms. Evening events (after dinner): casual clothes may be worn, remember no tank tops or spaghetti straps. SHORTS, SKIRTS AND DRESSES: Daytime: appropriate short length for daytime activities no extremely short-shorts. Girls: please avoid tight, tiny cheerleader shorts. Guys: please avoid the sag. It s not a good look and we don t want to see your underwear. Evening events (after dinner): the length of a skirt, dress or shorts* need to be a minimum of half the distance between the fingertips and the top of the knee when the hand is fully extended down the side of the student's leg. *If you have to ask, it s probably too short. These guidelines are intended to help everyone have the best possible experience at Serve Week. If you have any questions about the dress policy, please call the Youth Office. We appreciate your help with this!
5 A FINAL WORD I cannot express how excited that we, the Youth Ministry Staff, are that you have chosen to join us at Serve Week We believe this will be one of the most important, exciting week of the year! As you know, Serve Week will be here before you know it and we want to help make sure that you are prepared. We will do everything we can to make sure that everyone has a great week so show up on July 11 ready to have fun, meet new people, participate as part of a team, and learn more about following the Jesus Way. Remember, this is a Christian mission trip, we do expect everyone who participates to respect our commitment to Christ and follow the guidelines. A positive, flexible attitude is essential! While we want each individual to have a good experience, our greater responsibility is to the larger group. Please look over and be familiar with Things We Have an Understanding About before we get to Serve Week. These are not just "suggestions," they are requirements! Also, please look over the Dress Code and keep it in mind when you re shopping and packing for camp. All paperwork should be completed and turned in to the Youth Office no later than Sunday, July 3. This will help us make registration on Monday, July 11 as efficient as possible. Please call the Youth Ministry Office at if you have any questions! Here's an overview of the schedule for the week: Monday, July 11: 11:00am Students arrive at the Activities Building.
