2 2017 MISSION EXPERIENCES Impact Kalamazoo has structured our mission experience for student transformation. We believe that through student leadership and transformation Kalamazoo can be transformed by the love of Jesus Christ. Through work projects and street ministry students will be immerse and changed. The work projects that the youth and adults participate in will vary but some examples of projects that we have done in the past include: Building handicap ramps, cleaning parks, painting houses, building a porch, demolition, and much more. Impact Kalamazoo will be participating with Jesus Loves Kalamazoo: an organization that has brought together churches to minister to Kalamazoo through street ministry. We believe that through Impact your student will have opportunities for transformation. MISSION STATEMENT Our mission is to develop servant leaders and improve the quality of life in the communities we serve. VISION It is our desire that every youth and adult that participates in our mission experiences, every person whom we serve and every community and city in which we serve, would be transformed by the power and love of Jesus Christ for the glory of God.
3 IMPACT KALAMAZOO THINGS TO KNOW Churches must have a 1 adult to 5 student ratio and the appropriate number of adults for each gender. It is very important that you are in attendance for the WHOLE WEEK. That means arriving at the assigned check-in time and staying until the assigned departure time. Coming late and leaving early is a huge distraction to the rest of the group, and we believe that it s important for the youth to complete the whole journey. Student cell phones and ipods etc. must be left at home. Why is this important? We do not want to be distracted from what is important during this week. God is able to make a bigger impact on our hearts when we are allowing ourselves to focus on Him. Plan to wear t-shirts and basketball type SHORTS THAT GO DOWN TO YOUR KNEES all week. Why? Because we want to be an example of Jesus Christ and don t want distractions to keep us from being transformed or to keep us from being a part of God s transforming work in Kalamazoo. Haven Church will be our home base. (5350 N. Sprinkle Road) We will sleep, eat breakfast, make our lunches, etc. at Haven. We will shower every afternoon at Parchment High School.

8 COVENANT As we grow to become the family of God and Impact Kalamazoo with the love of Christ there are certain expectations that we need to agree for the physical and spiritual health and safety of everyone. I,, am committed to the success of Impact Kalamazoo mission week. Becuase of this I will: -Pray for God you grow us and use us for his glory, today, through the Impact Kalamazoo mission week, and everyday after that. -Stay the whole week. -Follow all mission rules. -Love and respect all leaders, students, and people being served. -Not be in a room designated for those of the opposite sex. -Not bring of use any form of tobacco, drugs, or alcohol. -Not bring or burn any fireworks. -Participate in all mission trip activities and programs (preferably, cheerfully). -Observe lights out. -Leave my phone and audio equipment at home. -Do my part, whatever it takes to, build our family of God so that anyone and everyone is able to grow closer to Jesus Christ. Anyone caught breaking this covenant will be spoken with. After considering the seriousness of the transgression, the group leaders have the option of sending that person home.
