2 We started the summer sermon series last week by preaching about the theme flowing out of the Nativity window. Those who were with us will remember that I mentioned the circles that appear around the heads of Mary, Jesus and Joseph. These circles have a couple of different names. Some people refer to them as a halo or nimbus. They are a sign of the light of grace bestowed by God on those who had an important role in the Christian story. Members of the holy family and various saints frequently have a halo or nimbus around their heads.

3 Also, I pointed out the unique nimbus surrounding Jesus. You can see this in every window in our collection. The halo around Jesus is called a cruciform gloriole. The three-diamond-shapes in Jesus' nimbus forms what looks like a cross. This special symbol is to mark Jesus as one of the Trinity--God in three Persons. Join us this Sunday as we consider the childhood of Jesus. Invite your new neighbors and extend radical hospitality to all who attend. The fruit of the Holy Spirit you exude is a key part in God's strategy of "making His appeal through us" (2 Corinthians 5:20). Thanks to Jim Lewis and Bob Messer for serving as our lay representatives to the conference. Jane Kimbrel served as organist for several worship services. Our pastors were reappointed for another year during the concluding act of worship. Dr. Brad Brady will be returning for his sixth year at PUMC, and Rev. Tommy Perkins will be starting his second year. Youth Summer Bible Study

4 Our summer Bible study for youth will begin on Tuesday, June 12, beginning at 7:30 p.m. The Smallwood's are the host family for the first week. Contact Kyle Barfield if you have any questions. 10 Photos from VA Hospital Cookout PUMC had 21 volunteers join together in hosting a wonderful cookout for the veterans and staff at Carl Vinson Hospital in Dublin. Here are a couple of photos from the day. We aren't allowed to take photos of the Veterans who are residents, but here are some of the staff who ate after serving the Vets. We bring some gifts each time we do a cookout. This time we presented a couple flat screen tvs, blue ray players, etc. for the recreational enjoyment of Veterans.
