Here are some questions to guide your mediation on this window. I invite you to ponder these questions as we prepare for worship this week. Please take your time and make this a prayerful experience. What is the first thing that catches your eye in this

What do you think the artist is seeking to communicate by having a "waterfall" feeding the River Jordan? What do you make of the river current represented in the painting?

2 window? Which person or symbol do you see immediately? What comes to mind as you focus on that one aspect? What part of the larger story do you recall? It is very appropriate to linger around these thoughts for a few minutes. What do the facial expressions and/or body language of John the Baptist and Jesus communicate to you? What do you think the artist is seeking to communicate by having a "waterfall" feeding the River Jordan? What do you make of the river current represented in the painting? What about the flower/lily floating in the water? Why do you think John the Baptist is holding a cross in his left hand? What is that symbol communicating at this early stage in Jesus' ministry? Focus on the dove beginning its downward descent and recall the voice from heaven declaring, "This is my beloved Son with whom I am well pleased." What two or three things do you think this final act is trying to communicate? You may want to read this week's scripture lesson, which is Matthew 3: Then look over these questions once more. All these details were placed in the picture for a purpose. It is impossible to fully consume the messages of each window in one sitting. While each window is simple in design, each painting invites us to draw closer to Jesus and the One who sent him. I pray this spiritual exploration of this window may give you some clues about how to meditate on all ten windows that grace our sanctuary. Sunday, June 17, 2018 We salute all Fathers this weekend as celebrate Father's Day. Bishop Lawson Bryan finalized all pastoral appointments for the conference year at the conclusion of the recent Annual Conference Session. Bishop Bryan reappointed Dr. Brad Brady to begin year six as Senior Pastor at PUMC. Also, Bishop Bryan reappointed Rev. Tommy Perkins to begin his second year as Associate Pastor for Congregational Care at PUMC. Both Brad and Tommy are excited to continue serving alongside the wonderful members and gifted staff of our

church. We pray for all the churches who will be receiving new pastors starting Sunday, June 17. Crossroads UMC, here in Perry, will be receiving a new pastor. Rev.

casseroles for their hospice families. Please consider making one or picking some up from the freezer section next time you go grocery shopping.
