4 Music Box Dr. Marc F. Boensel, Director of Music Ministries, Blessed Are the Ones Who Wait for You, by David Foley How silent lie the city streets, the very roads to Zion mourn. No resting place, just empty gates the former splendor now is gone. The captives held in exile are fed the bread of tears, no laughter fills the lonely who grieve for Zion. Blessed are the ones who wait for you, blessed are the ones whose hearts are true. Oh come Emmanuel, come God of Israel, we lift our longing hearts to you. In you our souls will always hope, we pray you will answer when we call. Come now and cheer our spirits here, oh dayspring come redeem us all. More eager than the watchmen who search the sky for dawn, we are looking for the rising of joy in Zion. Blessed are the ones who wait for you... Diane Hett, Director of Respite Ministry, or dhett@stlukeum.com Gift Ideas for Caregivers Caring for an older adult takes a major toll on the mind and body. Caregivers need to take regular breaks to rest, recharge and take care of their own health. Consider giving the following to a caregiver on your Christmas list - 1. Give them a Break! Volunteer to take over their caregiving duties one weekend every few months, one day a month, 3 hours every other week...whatever you can commit to would be a big help. 2. Set up a series of coffee dates a regular schedule of coffee dates will show your support throughout the year. 3. Home cooked meals. Load up their freezer with meals that can easily be re-heated. 4. A nice meal out a gift certificate to a favorite restaurant, accompanied by providing care for their loved one. 5. A clean house roll up your sleeves or pay a cleaning service. TWO ST. LUKE STAFF MEMBERS TO RETIRE AT YEAR S END Two of our most loved and valued St. Luke staff members will retire at the end of Adleyn Scott has been the organist for the St. Luke chancel choir and the 8:30 and 11:00 a.m. worship services since October 31, She has faithfully supported hundreds of worship services, weddings and funerals with her beautiful organ and piano music. We are indebted to and grateful for Adleyn s over eighteen years of service as a part of the St. Luke Church staff. Judy Heider, the Director of the St. Luke Early Learning Center, has also decided to retire at the end of this year. Judy has served as the ELC Director for St. Luke since July 1, For the last fourteen and a half years, Judy has done a superb job of overseeing St. Luke s premier child care facility with seventy employees and a budget of two and a half million dollars, caring for more than two hundred fifty children. We thank both Adleyn and Judy for their years of faithful service at St. Luke, and we pray God s blessing upon them as they begin new ventures in retirement.
