King, Jr. is the episcopal leader of the South Georgia Annual Conference. Bishop King was nurtured in faith at his home town church of Pleasant Grove UMC in Ashland, Alabama. After answering God s call to ministry, he received a Bachelor of Arts degree at Clark College and a Master of Divinity at the Interdenominational Theological Center both in Atlanta, GA. Bishop King served pastoral appointments in Alabama, California and Tennessee. During his tenure in the Tennessee Annual Conference he also served as a District Superintendent and Conference Council Director. He was elected to the episcopacy in 2000 and served as bishop of the Louisville area which includes the Kentucky and Red Bird Missionary Conferences for 8 years before being assigned to South Georgia in September He was reassigned to the South Georgia area in He and his wife, Rose, reside in Macon, GA and have two sons, one daughter and two grandchildren. OUTREACH MINISTRIES OPEN HOUSE NOVEMBER 1 Following the 10:55 Service St. Luke invites all members and friends to a ministry open house for: the Food Pantry, the Samaritan Center, the B.R.I.D.G.E., located at nd Avenue and Respite Care, located at rd Avenue. Through these vital ministries the compassionate hands of Christ are extended to people in need of life s basics including food, shelter, warmth, medicine. In addition, Christ s hands are extended to offer care for loved ones suffering from dementia and respite for their families. The B.R.I.D.G.E. offers young adults a chance to get their lives back on track and embrace the opportunity of a new and better future. All these ministries are able to extend the grace and love of Christ to thousands because of your generosity and faithful giving.
