Call the parish office to schedule. Sacrament of Confirmation Preparation for Confirmation is held within the Religious Education Program. The sacrament is usually conferred in the spring of each year. Sacrament of Marriage Arrangements are made by the couple with the parish priest at least six months before the wedding. Religious Education Transfiguration Parish offers religious education for K-8 grades in public schools. Classes are held on Sundays from 11:15 AM 12:45 PM Ministry to the Sick /Homebound Do you know a parishioner who is unable to get to church anymore but would still like to receive Holy Communion? Call Judi Damon at to make arrangements. Fr. Jim will anoint anyone with a serious illness, or who has upcoming surgery or tests see him after any of the Masses for a special anointing. Prayer Shawls You may request a prayer shawl for yourself or someone you know. Request forms at the entrance of the Church or call the parish office. Rosary Prayer Group Meets Tuesday Saturday Mornings at 7:30 AM before the 8:00 AM Mass. Parish Membership New parishioners always welcome! All are welcome to join us. Eyeglasses for the Needy Collection The Knights of Columbus Council 5501 is again collecting used Eyeglasses for the Needy during the month of October. Please place your old eyeglasses in the box marked Eyeglassses for the Needy located in front of the church meeting room. Your old eyeglasses will be sent to a non-profit organization that identifies the characteristics of the lens and distribute them to people in need of such glasses. CCD News Transfiguration s Tutoring Program Transfiguration s tutoring program is back! Tutoring for Grades K-12 will begin next week on Wednesday, October 7 and Thursday, October 8. If your child needs a tutor, please call by Monday. Leave your name, phone number, child s grade, and the subject needed. Your call will be returned. We would also like to thank all of those special tutors who give so generously of their time! TRC Web Treasures Most Catholics are aware that the Church sets aside certain days of the year to celebrate various feasts of the Lord, of Mary, and of the Saints. But did you know that each month of the calendar year is also dedicated to a specific feast or mystery of the Church? 3 Transfiguration Roman Catholic Church Ladies of Charity News Our next regular meeting will be Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at 7:00 PM in the church meeting room. The October Ladies of Charity monthly collection will be this weekend, October 3 & 4. Your generosity will enable us to provide food for a holiday dinner for those who would otherwise go without. God bless your kind hearts! OCTOBER PRAYER INTENTION That the Lord may grant peace to those parts of the world most battered by war and violence Social Ministry Happenings October 3 Blessing of the Prayer Garden, in front of the Rectory House, this Saturday, October 3, after the 4:00 PM Mass. All Rosary members are asked to attend and pray a decade of the Rosary and join the Eagle Scouts for the Blessing of the Prayer Garden. October 4 Blessing of the Pets, Sunday, October 4, after CCD Classes in the church parking lot, starting at 12:45 PM. October 4 Flu shots will be provided on Sunday, October 4th, from 8:00 AM to 11:30 AM. We will also have a new pneumonia shot, Prevnar13 available and Free Blood Pressure screenings. Please bring your insurance card with you on the 4th. October 6 Rosary Society Meeting Tuesday at 7:00 PM. We will recite the Rosary and then have a brief meeting in the meeting room. October 7 Parish Pastoral Council Meeting, this Wednesday at 7:00 PM October 10 Rosary Rally (National Event), Saturday, October 10 at Noon. We will meet outside (weather permitting) by the statue of the Blessed Virgin. Chairs will be provided for those who cannot stand. If it rains, we will pray in church. Life Chain is a peaceful and prayerful witness of pro-life individuals standing for 60 minutes praying for our nation and for an end to abortion. We will meet at Our Lady of the Most Blessed Sacrament s church parking lot in Natrona Heights. For more information, call Bob Eckenrod, Transfiguration Choir The Transfiguration Traditional Choir will start weekly Wednesday evening practices in October, beginning October 7, 14, 21, & 28 to prepare for the upcoming holiday season. Anyone with a love for singing is welcome and encouraged to join. We are also hoping to start a youth choir and welcome any school-age children to join. Ministry Scheduling All lectors, altar servers, Eucharistic ministers and parish organization coordinators are reminded that the cutoff date to submit scheduling requests for the November and December Ministry Schedules will be Friday, October 9. If there specific Masses that you want to be scheduled for, or specific dates on which you will not be available, please call or Joe Smagala no later than October 9. Registration forms are in the back of the church and on the table outside the meeting room. October Count Each October, our parishes are asked to compile their attendance data for the weekend Masses. The purpose of the October Count is to update Sunday Mass attendance trends throughout the diocese. This provides valuable information to assist in long-range planning.
