COLUMBANUS CHURCH_ #481/PAGE 4 Pastor s Notes NOVENA FOR OUR NATION Just a reminder to sign up for a 54 Day Rosary Novena (now in its 49 th day) if you h a v e n t a l r e a d y d o n e s o. (novenaforournation.com). These last weeks are dedicated to Thanksgiving. I am praying in thanksgiving that our country be spared a pro-abortion, anti-catholic president and thanks that God gave me the worse illness that some child or mom or family may be spared from it. The Novena ends on the Feast of the Most Holy Rosary, October 7 (My parents wedding anniversary). I hope all families will pray the Rosary together in their families. It is a most powerful prayer. The evil of the false religions has been defeated through its being prayed. Thanks to everyone for your prayers. If you have any special prayer intentions I now unite my prayers, works, joys, sorrows and sufferings with them. Remember that October is Respect Life Month and we should offer up our prayers and sacrifices for the innocent unborn and the conversion of hearts to Jesus and Mary for the salvation of souls. If I haven t done so, I would like to welcome our new teachers and principal to St. Columbanus. Have a great year! Our new principal, Mrs. Bernadette Frohm, has asked to have a chapel with the Blessed Sacrament reserved in the school. What a wonderful idea. Parishioners will be welcome to spend time with our Lord and pray for our school that we may truly be the light of Christ. Mrs. Frohm and her husband, John, from upstate New York, also joined our parish! In speaking of our Lord in the Eucharist, as Catholics we believe that our Lord Jesus is truly present in His Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity in the host that we receive at Mass. I KNOW He is truly present in the Eucharist because during my stay in the hospital every time I received Holy Communion, when the hospital checked my hemoglobin level it would always be at its highest level after I had received our Lord in Holy Communion. What a gift we have. Let us show our appreciation by lives of faithfulness to the Church, the Body of Christ, and leading lives of prayer, sacrifice, and holiness. In Jesus and Mary, Fr. Frank Samoylo Women s Retreat On November 11-13, join women from St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, Shrub Oak for our annual Parish Women s Retreat at San Alfonso Retreat House in Long Branch, NJ. The retreat will be conducted by Redemptorist priests on San Alfonso s staff. We will be joining women from other parishes. This year s theme is Living in the Mercy of God. $210 includes all weekend accommodations, activities and 6 meals.
