On many occasions when Jesus would travel with His disciples, people would stop them and ask for favors. This was not because they believed, but because they had heard about the good things that He could do. While the Lord never refused to give out a helping hand, He always had to tell those who were making a request of Him that life in this world is transitory and we must also think about the things of eternal life and remember that faith and healing go together. While the people were looking for signs Jesus knew that He himself and the good that He does is sign enough for those that are willing to have that faith. Paul reminds us in the letter to Ephesians that we must put away our old self and our former way of life because often these are the things which keep us from focusing on being renewed in the spirit, that spirit which us to live as His people. In these days and times so much is accomplished by evangelization and reaching out to others, but we can not give to others things that we do not possess ourselves. So we do have to put on this new self. We have been created in God s way, in goodness. Others must see that in us in the way we live and the way we treat one another. Fr. David Taylor, Pastor

2 Feast of the Assumption Wednesday, August 15, 2018: 8 a.m. at Mother of Good Counsel 12 noon at Saint James Bible Study Monday August 6, 2018 at 6 p.m. Christian Mothers and Ladies Guild Meeting Sunday, September 9, 2018 after the 11:30 a.m. Mass at Corpus Christi for the installation of the new president. This fall we will be combining our Religious Education Program together with St. James and St. Bedes. The first session will take place on Sunday, August 26 th from 9:00 to 9:50 a.m. All families and students will meet in the St. Bede cafeteria and have a chance to meet their teachers and classmates in their classrooms. A $25.00 per person registration fee is to be made out to St. Charles Lwanga. Century Club has 90 members. July Century Club Winners are: Anna Carter Sandra Eyth John Pegnato Marleen Tucker 1 more drawing before banquet. Only 10 members are needed to reach our goal! If a person has never been baptized or, if a person has been baptized in another Christian Church and would like to consider a faith journey in the Catholic Church, they are invited to attend. There is absolutely no pressure to become a Catholic. This is a time for decision. If someone was baptized as a Catholic but never received any follow up formation or never received the remainder of the sacraments of initiation (i.e., Confirmation and/or Eucharist)this process is for them as well. Do Not Work for Food that Perishes but for the Food that Endures for Eternal Life God, in His providence, created the world and everything in it. He made it all very good and, as He sets us forth into the world to enjoy the beauty and substance of His creation. However, the created world is not meant to be a distraction from God, but rather that which draws us ever deeper into the mystery of his Fatherly love for us. His greatest gift to us, and that which unites us most fully to him, is the gift of himself in the Eucharist. Under the appearance of humble bread and wine, Jesus comes to us as nourishment and strength. However, this food not only nurtures our bodies, but our souls as well, enlivening us as we make our pilgrim journey to heaven. From the Eucharist flows the life and mission of the Church as, united in Holy Communion we are formed as the Body of Christ to do His will on earth. As the implementation of the On Mission for The Church Alive! initiative draws near, may we not be distracted by the things of this world that will ultimately pass away, but instead focus on the Eucharist as we are united in faith and walk together to eternal life. 4 TIME LINE to IMPLEMENTATION During the Transition Phase: Outgoing and incoming clergy will work to develop a new Mass schedule for the grouping. Clergy Teams will receive Implementation Guides that provide a path forward for the Grouping. No clergy move and the Mass schedule does not change until October 15 th.
