2 Message of the Week Luke 20:2738 Those who are deemed worthy to aain to the coming age and to the resurrecon of the dead neither marry nor are given in marriage. Jesus response to the Sadducees regarding their queson about the resurrecon of the dead actually raises another queson for us: what about marriage in heaven? We understand marriage to be unl death do us part, but what exactly becomes of this special relaonship in the aerlife? An interesng interpretaon comes from Fr. Raniero Cantalamessa, the Preacher of the Papal Household, who said marriage does not come to a complete end at death but is transfigured (Homily, November 10, 2006). Catholic author Stephen Ray described it this way in a leer to his mother who was grieving the loss of her husband: We cannot understand our new spiritual bodies and heavenly existence any more than a caterpillar can comprehend what it will be like to be a buerfly. We cannot ancipate how personal relaonships will flower in glory any more than [an] acorn can ancipate standing 50 feet tall. Whatever it will be, we can trust it will be wonderful. from Jan FAITH AND TRUST There is anxiety and sorrow this autumn. As we again watch trees lose leaves that once colorfully decorated their branches, we reflect on our loved ones whom we remembered on All Souls Day and at the Mass of Remembrance. We grip our seats waiting for the final outcome of what has been a deeply contentious presidential campaign. So much sadness, violence, and uncertainty clutter our news. What s next? How could God possibly take all this brokenness and make it whole again? The Sadducees in the Gospel throw Jesus a similar, seemingly impossible question, to which Jesus responds: God s ways are not our ways. Are we so tied to our own practices, logic and biases that we have lost trust that our God, who brings new life to the dead, will again break through our limited grasp of world order? Believing in our own personal resurrection gives meaning to our lives. May our weekly song, our daily prayer, and all of our ministries at St. Patrick be a cocreation with God that allows God s will for new life to permeate all that we do. 2 TrunkNTreat! Expect it to last one to two days. Running Nose More likely a cold Cough Moderate cough likely a cold. A severe cough it is probably the lu. Either way the virus has to run its course, if you have not had your lu shot, there is still time.

6 Card Shower for 99th Birthday Earl Depner is having his 99th Birthday on November 12th. We want to surprise him with as many cards as possible to make this birthday extra special. Earl has had a rough year with his foot but he is on the road to recovery. Just this last week, he is able to walk with a walker and has put his wheelchair in the corner of his bedroom. We thank GOD for his recovery and good health. First, we are called to be generous with our encouragement and hope. As God shows us mercy, we must be merciful to others. Second, joy is contagious!
