For he is good, the LORD, whose kindness endures forever, and his faithfulness, to all generations. (Psalm 100) Dear Parishioners and Friends, This Thursday is Thanksgiving! With all the cold weather we have been having, and the mountains of snow our nearby neighbors have been having, a hot meal with one s family sounds rather appetizing. Our annual Thanksgiving Mass will be held at 9:00 am this Thursday. We will have a table set up in the main body of Church for any personal food items (breads/pies) you would like blessed at Mass and then brought back home again. The Prayers of the Faithful will also provide an opportunity to offer our gratitude to God. So come join us for this great celebration! Thank you to everyone who has been donating various food items for our annual Thanksgiving Basket program. As our volunteer staff at Hope House share with us, the need is great and it helps people in our community enjoy the blessings of knowing that our church community cares for them too. In an effort to keep our parishioner and family database updated we will begin conducting a Parish Census in the coming weeks. The first phase will begin with a parish-wide mailing to all registered families asking them to complete a new Family Census Form and return it to the church on the weekend or to the parish office. The next phase will begin after the first of the year. If a form is not returned we will follow up with a phone call to see if you and your family wish remain registered here at St. Rita. We thank you for your help with this effort! St. Rita School Spirit of Learning Corner Did you know?... + Rochester Lancers soccer players came into our school for an assembly this past Wednesday! They motivated the kids with their Eat Right, Treat Right program and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon with these athletes. + A new enrichment opportunity will be coming to the halls of St. Rita School. All children, Kindergarten through 6th grade are invited to join Culture Kids Club who will be sending teachers to teach Spanish in sixweek sessions. Each session is different. The children will learn through games, singing and hands-on activities. We are excited to offer this new program. Save the Date! ADVENT SERVICE OF LESSONS AND CAROLS Sunday, December 7 at 2:00pm in Church The choirs of St. Rita Church will be presenting the Advent Service of Lessons and Carols. This service originated in 1918 at King s College Chapel in Cambridge, England, where it has been broadcast around the world every year since. The service tells of the events leading up to the birth of Jesus, with short scripture readings interspersed with hymns and carols. St. Rita choirs participating will be the Adult Choir, Children s Choir, Lite Choir, and Contemporary Group. Come and celebrate the festive music of the season! The service is free and is followed by a reception. MITTEN SUNDAY At all Masses the weekend of DECEMBER 6 & 7 We collect mittens, hats and scarves for those less fortunate. If you have purchased or knitted any items and have items to donate you can leave them in the greeting area in church. Baskets will be available in church to collect the mittens at all Masses during the weekend of December 6 & 7. Children attending Children s Liturgy may bring their mittens to the altar when they come forward for their blessing from Father that weekend. All children are invited to bring mittens to be given to the needy whether they attend Children s Liturgy or not.

Your donation is greatly appreciated HOLY CHILDHOOD ANGEL ORNAMENTS Ceramic angels made and packaged by the School of the Holy Childhood are available for $7.00. Each year there is a new angel to add to your collection. The proceeds will be shared between St. Damien Pediatric Hospital (Haiti s only pediatric free hospital), Holy Childhood and HOPE Ministry. They are available now at St. Rita s Parish Office during the week. PARISH VISITATION Do you have a loved one at home, in a nursing home, or hospital that is in need of a visit? To everyone who generously donated food to provide Thanksgiving Food Baskets and turkeys for over 20 families this year, and to our Youth who also collected food and sorted all the food baskets, and thanks to our delivery people for getting these baskets safely to those in need.
