5 Chaplains Corner Assurance Joshua 3:2-3, When you see the Ark of the Covenant of the Lord your God...then you shall set out from your place and go after it. When God said Follow the Ark, he was saying Follow me. As the Israelites prepared to cross the Jordan, God led the way, not soldiers. Not Joshua. Not engineers and their plans or Special Forces and their equipment. When it came to pass through the impassable waters, God s plan was simple, Trust Me. The Israelite people did. A chosen band of priests walked toward the river carrying Ark and they inched toward the Jordan river. It was the smallest of steps, but with God the smallest step of faith can activate the mightiest of miracles. As they touched the water, the flow stopped, and all of Israel crossed over on dry ground. As Joshua had told them, By this crossing, you shall know that the living God is among you! The Hebrews knew they could not lose. They had every right to celebrate. So do we. For Joshua s people, assurance came as they stood on dry land looking back at the Jordan river. For us, assurance comes as we stand on the finished work of Christ and look back at the cross. Claim God s promises and be assured. Please pray for: Jane Gray / Dave Hayes / Ron Atkinson / Jeff Hall / Herb Ritchie / Jonah Grogan / Gary Dalton / Charlotte VanKirk / Mary Archambault / Chris Barnes / Gary Daniel / Randy Crank Please feel free to contact Post 113 Chaplain Randy, for prayer needs and also to share our legion blessings: Contact Send an to: james.crank@twc.com Sons of the American Legion_ From the desk of Hardin Post 113 SAL Commander Greetings to all! I hope everyone was able to attend Winter Conference last month. Information was great but January weather was cold. So now we are going to heat things up. Sons are hosting the annual Chili Cook-Off Super Bowl Sunday, February 4, 4:00 PM in the Lounge. Bring your favorite recipe and compete for one of the top three prizes! A fee will be charged to enter your chili but 50% of all money collected from the entrants will be used for the prize money. The rest will fund our SAL charities. And bragging rights will last at least till next year! If you can t bring your favorite bowl during the Bowl Game, then bring an appetite for sampling and voting for the best three. There is no charge for the sampling, but donations are always accepted for the cause. February meeting is Life Member nomination time. Be sure to be there if you know of someone who is deserving of this honor. Meeting time is 7:00 PM usually in the Legion Board Room. SAL Dual Member, Branden Curry, was deployed to active duty last month. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers for a safe time overseas and return. As always, remember all veterans in your prayers for defending our country providing us the best place in the world. For our Fathers, I am Steve Curry, Commander SAL Squadron NASCAR time is here! We will have a Pre Daytona 500 party on Sunday, 11 February, starting at 2:00! It s a racing movie day with Talledega Nights and Days of Thunder! Join us again on February 1:00, for the race! We will have door prizes! Both events are Pot Luck so bring your favorite dish!
