Then invite your son it the Brethren, together we can make a difference. Use your You re Invited brochure. The One Day Masonic Journey is an excellent method for increasing your Lodge membership. One Day Masonic Journey: October 30, 2010 As the One-Day Masonic Journey is fast approaching. Grand Master Thomas K. Sturgeon is asking your assistance to make this a successful event and is offering the following reminders: Lodges are encouraged to conduct Special Meetings during the months of July and August in order to allow them to receive, investigate and ballot upon new petitioners. It is the candidates and Lodges choice as to the location they wish to attend. Lodge Secretaries should assist the Valleys and Shrine Centers with efforts in providing them with referrals of candidates, whether they are a new candidate or an existing Lodge Member. Lodges are encouraged to use the Calls to the Craft program to inform the Brethren of the One-Day Masonic Journey. Lodges are permitted to identify Members who have previously received the first and/or second degrees and encourage them to contact these individuals to invite them to the One-Day Masonic Journey to complete their degrees. Lodges are encouraged to hold informational Friend to Friend events throughout the summer for prospective candidates and their ladies. Some of our Members may feel uncomfortable talking about our Fraternity. Just ask them to bring their prospects to the event and let the Lodge Officers do the rest. Use the Calls to the Craft program to promote this event. A Reminder The Dress Code for Masonic Meetings Is Relaxed (But not that much) The dress code for lodge meetings is now relaxed to a more contemporary style whereby a necktie is not required. Pay special attention to this Brethren. This is the Dress Code in the 50 th Masonic District. A necktie IS NOT required. A Button up dress shirt and jacket IS required. Similar to Business Casual. A polo shirt is not acceptable.

3 Masonic Villages Adopt-A-Resident Program Has your Lodge adopted a resident yet? To enhance members' relationships with our Masonic Villages, every lodge is encouraged and expected to adopt a person or couple from one of the Masonic Villages. The lodge should arrange for visits, take residents out to dinner or lunch, give gifts for birthdays and holidays and look after their general needs. Generally your Lodge should keep in touch with a resident. Most Lodges have either a Brother or some family member in one of the Masonic Villages. Lodges Will Conduct Monthly Community Service Look around your community. There are many opportunities to help. Every lodge needs to become more involved and visible in its local community. Lodges will be expected to do one local service initiative every month during the next two years. What has your Lodge been doing? Lodges Will Raise Funds to Support Our Masonic Villages What is your Lodge doing? Every lodge is expected to have a fundraiser during 2010, with the beneficiary being the Masonic Villages. This effort is in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Masonic Village at Elizabethtown. The Grand Master is requesting that the Lodges raise a minimum of $10.00 per member up to and including $2, (and more if possible) for the Masonic Villages to be presented at the December 2010 Quarterly Communication. This is a great way to give back to the community, plus for every unit collected we will get $10 from the Masonic Blood Club toward our $2000 Fundraising Goal.
