The primary role of the altar server is to assist the priest in the cele-bration of the liturgy and to be an example to the congregation by actively participating in the liturgy. Servers carry the cross and the processional candles, hold the book for the priest celebrant when he is not at the altar, carry the incense and censer, help during the preparation of the gifts, wash the priest s hands, and assist the priest celebrant and deacon as necessary. 5 . What s Happening in Faith Formation Grades 1 12 Visit for the full class calendar. The Religious Education Office hours are Monday Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. And the Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us, and we saw his glory CHURCH SEARCH. Each week, an will go out to families to let them know what to look for in our church. Religious Education families will look around the church for a different sign or symbol. When the children find the answer, they should write the answer on the paper they received in class and bring it to the next class. Catechists will mark correct answers with a star. Most stars wins! For the Weekend of December 10/11 QUESTION: What is this? ANSWER: Holy Water Font For the Weekend of December QUESTION: We learned last week this is the Holy Water Font. Question: What sign do we make at the font with the Holy Water when we enter and exit our Church? Gospel Reflection JN 1:1-5, 9-14 The images of seeing and hearing continue in the gospel. John tells us that what we hear and see is God's own Son, Jesus Christ, the Word made flesh. He came among us as one of us for our human eyes to see and love and welcome. Jesus came to be with us, to teach us about his Father, and to tell us about God's kingdom. What can we do to show Jesus that we love and welcome him? We can worship him. We can talk with him, telling him of our hopes and dreams. We can try to be people who bring his peace and light and joy everywhere we go. Question of the Week: How does Jesus Incarnation bring you Joy? Family Discussion Questions for the Gospel: One of the themes of this gospel is light. How does light "reveal" what is in a dark place? What is darkness in our world? What is light? When someone speaks, that person's words can reveal what they are like. Sometimes Jesus is called "the Word of God." Find the places in this gospel where we are told something about the Word.. If you have any thoughts or questions about todays Gospel, or any questions about your faith, or simply to let me know your reading these discussions, please feel free to me at deacon.howe@stcath.org I d love to hear from you. *Confirmation Students Bring this to your next session and receive extra credit) Prayer for Families O God, bless our family and all its members and friends; bind us together by your love. Give us kindness and patience to support each other; and wisdom in all we do. Let the gift of your peace come into our hearts and remain with us this Christmas season. May we rejoice in your blessings for all our days. Amen.
