In its place the Eagle Scout Recognition Dinner will held at the LDS Center, 1305 Cottonwood Ave. in Woodland. We ll see you at Roundtable in September. Save the Date 2018 ScoutExpo T he Council Program Committee is pleased to announce that ScoutExpo 2018 has been calendared and a location has been secured - we are confirmed for Gibson Ranch (in Rio Linda) October 19, 20, & 21, Web-O-Ree 2017 On The Way O ur Yolo District Web-O-Ree is just over a month ahead: September 23 to be specific. The event brings Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts together on a get acquainted basis. The Scout Troops host groups of Webelos Cubs in activities at about minute intervals. (if numbers work out, Davis Webelos to visit Davis Troops, Woodland Webelos to Woodland Troops, etc. This event helps Webelos Cub home-in on a troop they might join. Web-O-Ree begins at 4 PM, Saturday, September 23 at Mace Ranch Park in Davis (same location as last year), 3030 Loyola Drive, Davis. Troops to plan both a dinner and dessert, peanut-free, and bring all necessary ingredients, cooking equipment and utensils. They will use one of the following cooking methods: 1) Camp stove; 2) Dutch oven; 3) Box oven; 4) Solar oven; 5) Open campfire; or 6) Charcoal grill. Webelos will be achieving a requirement from the Cast Iron Chef Webelos Adventure with help from the Boy Scouts Troops and Dens are to have two Youth-Protection-Trained adults, each present, during the Web-O-Ree. Webelos need to fill out BSA Activity Consent Form for the Web-O-Ree and bring it to the event. RSVP by unit to yolo.weboree@gmail.com by Monday, September 11; Scout Troops should RSVP with names of their two Youth-Protection- Trained adults and the approximate head count of Boy Scouts attending; Webelos Dens are to RSVP with names of two Youth-Protection- Trained adults and names of Webelos Cubs to attend. 3 . D i s t r i c t E v e n t N e w s Major Changes Pending In Scouting For Food Yolo District has been supporting the Woodland Volunteer Food Closet for over 25 years. Over this time the city, the need and Scouting have gradually changed. To respond to these changes we are holding a Scouting For Food Planning Meeting at the Boy Scout Cabin, 505 Lincoln Avenue, Woodland at 7:00 PM, Thursday, August 24. The topics include: new area layouts, new maps, new dates, new leadership, a new collection method and possible school participation. All are invited to attend this planning meeting. It is essential each Woodland Pack, Troop and Crew be represented at this meeting. If your unit has not yet responded to our request please contact the SFF event chair: Bill Ragsdale, , bill@billragsdale.cc. Eclipse - August 21; Earn the Patch O n Monday, August 21, all of the United States will experience an eclipse of the sun. Those in the path of totality (North-West to South-East) will experience a total eclipse for about two and one-half minutes. The overall event is over two hours long. The Golden Empire Council will experience an 86 percent eclipse at the north end of the Council, declining to about 76 percent to the south. For our area, the eclipse will start at 9:06am and end at 11:41am. The last time the United States experienced a total eclipse was in The Boy Scouts of America has developed a patch for the eclipse. To earn the patch, Scouts will view the eclipse using safe viewing practices outline in the patch requirements. Please remember, it is not safe to look directly at the sun without proper protective glasses. For more information click here. Kateri, our President is baiting a hook while Irene looks on. We caught some fish, but returned them from whence they came. Derek Pate, Crew 512 Advisor The Webelos and Bears of Pack 43 visited the West Sacramento Police Department and were given a tour by one of their lead officers. The boys attending were: Leopold Stoddard, Teddy Stoddard, Edmond Bertola, Damon Hagerty, Israel Phalit, and Max Menzies. The boys got to see where the officers worked and where they kept their gear. They saw the evidence room and where evidence is processed before going to the evidence room. They met a couple of detectives were working late.
