3 How to Use this Program Calendar This calendar is to be used as a tool in the process of developing your unit s annual program plan. If you would like more copies, they can be found on the Council s web page at: Annual Unit Program Planning Conference 1. Schedule an Annual Unit Program Planning Conference for your unit using the materials received at the June Program Previews. Packs, Troops, Teams and Crews will all have different procedures for conducting a Unit Program Planning Conference. Be sure to attend the Program Preview for training on how to conduct these conferences. There is also information in your unit s Program Preview Packet that gives you the guidelines for conducting the Unit Program Planning Conference. 2. Agree on the monthly themes and special activities for the year ahead. Set dates for the year ahead. Be sure to coordinate your plans with those of your chartered partner. (When you look at a month in the calendar, the District dates are listed on the page at the top and the Council dates are listed on the in the boxes on the bottom page.) 3. Be certain that leadership responsibilities for your activities are assigned. Two Deep Leadership is required for all Scouting activities. 4 Review your Pack, Troop, Team, or Crew requirements so that your program planning may qualify your unit to receive the Journey to Excellence Unit Award.
