1 Capital District Merit Badge Summer School Who? For any Boy Scout, 11-17, in any troop in the area. Cost? None! When & Where? See schedule below Why? To make available, using official, qualified counselors, several merit badges required for Eagle, as well as several elective ones that are not often done, but are useful, interesting and educational. Coordinator? Ormond E. Howell (Retired teacher & principal) 4487 Bloom St, Boise, ID (Collister area) Questions you may have 1. Insurance/Liability? Yes, regular homeowners and/or business. 2. Supervision? Yes, absolutely. Scout rules will be followed. 3. Parent s Obligation? (1) Drop the boys off on time and pick them up on time. (We suggest take turns carpooling with other parents if more than one scout from your troop is attending.) (2) See to it that your boy does the designated requirements (assignments), between class sessions. 4. Vacations or Scout Camp Interference? Most of the merit badges require 3 sessions (two to instruct and a third to pass off ). If the scout can be to both instruction sessions, then we can arrange an individual pass off time. If he can t it would be well to wait for another opportunity down the road. 5. Pre-registration? Required for, and only (limited or capped enrollment). For the other merit badge classes just come. Enrollment is unlimited in these classes. 6. Blue Cards? We would prefer you fallow the proper procedure and come with a blue card signed by your scoutmaster. However, that being said, it s also not a matter of life or death. Just come and we ll give you a blue card that you can take, get signed, and bring back. 7. Completion time? All sessions will be completed within the three (or indicated) instruction times, except for those that require a time record, such as Personal Management, Family Life, etc. 8. Emergency or Change of Schedule? In case of an emergency, or if the schedule has to be changed for some reason, parents will be notified directly by telephone. 9. Materials Needed? Clipboard or binder with paper & pencil. 10. Further Questions? Call
