As to the 374 Officers and 3,131 men of the submarine Force who gave their lives in the winning of this war, I assure you that they went down fighting and their brothers who survived them took a grim toll of our savage enemy to avenge their deaths. May God Rest their Gallant Soul s Adm. Lockwood. Their creed To perpetuate the memory of those shipmates who gave their lives in submarine warfare; to further promote and keep alive the spirit and unity that existed among submarine crewmen during WW II; to promote sociability, general welfare and good fellowship among its members; and pledge loyalty and patriotism to the United States government." So that s where I stand at the moment and believe I am happy just to stand.

2 Our chapter is growing smaller by the moment but for those who are here we need to start telling you all about our former lives when we were young. I was telling one to Roger when I lived in Blackville North Carolina I was 16 at the time and in charge of all the outside at my parents house, from the chickens to the garden and an old mule I bought for dollars, but that s another story the one job I had was to help out two widows with their cow, my job was to find pasture for her, milk her and bring her back each day to the two ladies, my pay was 10 cents a week, where I got in trouble was when I pastured the cow in a field of wild onions, boy I was threatened with a law suit that milk was horrible, next time I ll tell you about the mule and then my run in with Chief Spritz in Sub School. 6 Newsletter editor: Our base secretary Bill will be getting a new hip in April so he will not be at the meeting so our prayers will be with you and hope you have a speedy recovery Stacy Power had to go in Hospital to get an artery rooted out from his waist to his foot had bad circulation causing problems with his foot and his big toe, that s how he found out he had a problem was through his big toe, so to all be aware of problematic issues.
